Scottish Third Sector Research Forum champions the use of third sector research evidence in Scotland View this email in your browser Autumn 2016 Welcome to this edition of the Scottish Third Sector Research Forum (TSRF) newsletter. In this issue: Let's collaborate for impact Consultation on TSRF projects for 2016/17 Research updates from our members Keep up-to-date with the Forum Let's collaborate for impact The Forum s third annual event Let s collaborate for impact took place on 13 September 2016 at Victoria Quay, Edinburgh. Just under 70 participants from the third sector, public sector and academia attended. The event, which included presentations, case studies and breakout sessions, provided an opportunity to improve understanding of what impact means in the third and academic sectors, to identify practical steps to effective collaboration for greater impact and for third sector and academics to network together. See the programme for more detail.

Get a flavour of the day from reading the blog, seeing our Storify or searching #tsrf on Twitter. Consultation on TSRF projects for 2016/17 The Forum is looking for views/ideas on two small research projects that they propose to undertake this year about co-production and inclusive growth. Two papers have been produced: What do we know about what makes for effective co-production? What do we know about the third sector s role and contribution to inclusive growth? Each paper provides some background to the topic, an outline for the project, and information about the process to carry out the research. We are interested in hearing your opinions and know that you have valuable experience to draw on and insights to share. Please give us your feedback by answering the questions (that can be found at the back of each paper) and emailing us your comments by 5 October. The study, to be completed in six months, is being conducted by Simon Jaquet Consultancy Services. For more information click here. Evaluation Support Scotland (ESS): Messages about economic evaluation In 2015 ESS conducted a survey of funders' views about economic evaluation (summarised here). ESS consulted funders at Funderfest 2016, an event for funders in June, about the key messages from the findings of the research. Next year ESS will publish a guide for third sector organisations and funders about how to talk together about evaluating value for money.
