Target Audience The course is primarily designed for physicians and nurses. In addition, surgeons, emergency physicians, anesthesiologists, surgical residents, nurse practitioners and physician assistants will benefit from this course. EMS personnel are welcomed to attend. This program is designed to provide comprehensive continuing education in current research and practices, and training in the treatment of critically ill and injured patients. Included will be discussions on current evidencebased guidelines and technology for the evaluation, diagnosis and management of the patients with traumatic injuries such as, traumatic brain injury, pelvic fractures, blunt cardiac injury, and pancreatic and duodenal injuries. Objectives 1. Review the guidelines supporting the use of IVC filters in patients at risk for VTE. 2. Discuss the current standard of care for management of TBI. 3. Identify appropriate diagnostic and therapeutic guidelines for management of pancreatic and duodenal injuries. 4. Recognize the effects of adverse childhood experiences.
