The last students leave Kitjarra on the 5th and we will be empty from then until January 18th. During this festive season we hope you all spend time with your loved ones and take a well deserved break. We look forward to seeing you all in T1 2016 STAFF FAIRWELL As 2015 draws to an end we say a sad fair well to Farhang Afshar Lecturer in the Business and Law team, Jodie Hazel Residential Manager and Mitch Smyth Overnight Care Taker at Kitjarra. Each of these team members have played an integral park in IKE s success. We thank Farhang, Jodie and Mitch for their hard work and dedication and wish them all the very best for the future! Page 1

CREATIVE ARTS TAKES CENTRE STAGE THIS MONTH! 2015 GRAD EHXIBITION Last month IKE s graduation Visual Arts students put on the 2015 Annual Graduate Exhibition, showcasing their work for friends, family and the IKE/ Kitjarra community. Attendees on the night were treated to an array of art in its various forms, from film to painting to sculpture and everything n between. Congratulations to all the 2015 Visual Arts graduates and the course team on another successful and thought provoking night. The Graduate Exhibition is currently on show in the IKE foyer. DRAWING COUNTRY ON DISPLAY IKE staff and students attended the opening night of Deputy Director Professor Brian Martin s Exhibition Drawing Country. The night and exhibition were a fantastic success and were enjoyed by all who attended. Page 2
WHAT S NEWS AT IKE? OUT AND ABOUT IN THE COMMUNITY 3 RIVERS FESTIVAL Bihar ~ Institute of Koorie Education ~ Issue: December 2015 Last month we teamed up with the Koorie Night Market and manned a stall at the 2015 annual 3 Rivers Festival in Echuca Moama. This event focused on engaging people through the love of Sport, Music and Aboriginal Culture and was a great way for community to come together in a positive and fun way. Congratulations to Gary Kennedy on winning the Samsung Galaxy Tab NARANA FEST 2015 This year IKE has been making inroads with Indigenous communities across the region, state and nation. Through this we have been a part of some deadly events like this year s revival of Narana Fest which was a huge success. The event featured performances from Archie Roach and local musicians Yirrimal and The Louds. Page 3

The Justice Health Koorie Tertiary Scholarships are open as of Wednesday 21 October 2015, and close at 5:00pm Friday 20 November 2015. Justice Health is offering two Koorie Tertiary Scholarships to commence in Semester one of 2016. The Scholarships will provide financial support for Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people to undertake full time study in a health related field.
