Orderlies facilitate the effective day-to-day operation of Waitemata DHB by maintaining consistent non-patient and/or patient transport standards and processes and delivering high levels of customer service at all times. KEY ACCOUNTABILITY STANDARDS / ACHIEVEMENTS TASK PERFORMANCE Duties as required (including but not limited to): Undertake tasks as requested by Responds to P1 calls immediately Orderly dispatch through RT or Patients are transferred as required in a Cellphone system, providing professional, safe and efficient manner required service to relevant areas in Documents are delivered to appropriate areas accordance with priority within required timeframes timeframes. Blood and specimen delivered and picked up within required timeframes Supplies and equipment are delivered to appropriate areas within agreed timeframes Soiled linen, refuse (including sharps containers) and equipment are collected as required and safely and correctly disposed of ensuring correct segregation of infectious waste and linen Distribute medications, pharmacy boxes to areas as required and collect as required Assistance is provided with bi-valves and plaster room duties Provides professional assistance with manual handling and transferring of patients as required by clinical services Confidentiality is maintained at all times Ensures that patients are correctly identified before transportation or service delivery in accordance with patient identification procedure and task lists All equipment in need of repair is identified immediately to Supervisor Transfer and receive deceased people Prepare deceased people for viewing Assist with release to funeral director Other orderly duties as requested by Management/Coordinator Quality Assurance Demonstrates commitment to the WDHB Accreditation Programme to achieve no less than 90% Q.A. standard for Orderly Services Understands and demonstrates commitment to the development and implementation of the Quality Assurance programme for Orderlies Infection control policies are upheld at all times Professional Development and Infection control policies are upheld at all times, Behaviour including correct hand hygiene Fully participates in compulsory staff training sessions Utilises opportunities to increase knowledge and skills by undertaking on- going training Waitemata District Health Board -JOB DESCRIPTION - Page 2
