ACADEMIC EXCELLENCE A rich, diverse curriculum builds critical thinking skills to prepare students for a lifetime of learning. Rancho Solano offers students the choice of either a general U.S. high school diploma or the International Baccalaureate (IB) diploma programme. Successful performance on IB examinations allows students to earn college credit while in high school. The IB diploma programme is known the world over as the standard of excellence. When powered by the Rancho Academic Plan (RAP), the IB prepares each student for success through critical thinking skills, high-order reasoning, and creative and complex problem solving. The respected IB credential is highly valued by university admissions officers around the world for its rigorous, global academic standards and its external assessment that validates subject knowledge breadth and depth in the arts, sciences and languages. FACULTY We are a group of world-class teachers who work together with shared goals, passion and intensity of purpose to serve the growth and development of our students. Our highly qualified, caring faculty works closely with students to create customized learning plans that challenge students to build skills and work at advanced levels in specific content areas based on their interests and abilities. Tutoring, individual growth assessments, and other academic support is available year-round, both inside and outside the classroom. EXTRACURRICULAR Our rigorous academic plan is complemented by a wide range of academic and extracurricular opportunities in the arts, music, and other subjects that cultivate cultural appreciation and creativity. Participation in these activities leads to gains in core academic subjects as students transfer the skills they learn to think about the material in core subjects in a new way. COLLEGE ADVISING Our college advising department is composed of an experienced counselor who is familiar with the admissions practices of higher education institutions worldwide. We work individually with students, starting as early as 6th grade, to map out an academic plan, define university goals and assist with the college application process. 4
