Military Classification: Grade, Rank/Rate Military branches use the same Grade structure Numerical designators for Enlisted, Warrant Officer, and Officer Each Grade has a corresponding name (known as Rank/Rate) Personnel are commonly referred to as their Rank/Rate; i.e. Sergeant, Chief, Lieutenant, Captain, etc. Military branches use their own terminology for the Rank/Rates 11
