INTRODUCTION/AWARD LIST The National Extension Association of Family and Consumer Sciences (NEAFCS) honors the contributions of members to the profession and to society through a number of awards given annually. Members first apply for these awards in their state. The applications of the top two state affiliate winners in each category are forwarded to the National Awards and Recognition Vice President for competition in the Southern Region. Southern Region winners applications then compete for the National level awards. The following are the 2018 NEAFCS awards: 1. NEAFCS Greenwood Frysinger Award 2. Distinguished Service Award 3. Excellence in Multi State Collaboration Award A detailed description of each award, eligibility requirements, application procedure, and judging criteria are contained in the NEAFCS Awards Manual posted on the NEAFCS website, http://www.neafcs.org/awards and on the FEAFCS website, http://feafcs.ifas.ufl.edu/awards.html The Awards Manual is updated annually so check the website for the most current edition. ELIGIBILITY To be eligible to apply for NEAFCS awards, your state and national dues must have been received by the FEAFCS Treasurer by November 30, 2017. Please contact the FEAFCS Treasurer if you have questions regarding your membership status. APPLICATION PROCESS Applying for NEAFCS awards is an ALL ONLINE process. No hardcopies will be received by the National office. Apply online at the NEAFCS website. Upload your complete application, including all supporting documentation, to the NEAFCS website. Forward your award submission confirmation email to Angela Hinkle ahinkle@ufl.edu. Your submitted application will then be shared with the NEAFCS Florida Affiliate Awards and Recognition Committee. You may also send an electronic copy directly to the appropriate state A&R committee member as well. Packets must be submitted NO LATER THAN Friday, February 16, 2018 so that they can be judged by subcommittees by the March 2018 NEAFCS deadline.
Please follow the steps below: 1. Review the 2018 Awards Manual/Guidelines for detailed information about each available award. The document is posted on the MEAFCS website on the Awards homepage under Awards http://www.neafcs.org/awards. 2. Prepare the application packet as outlined for the respective award in the 2018 Awards Manual/Guidelines. Follow directions exactly. Be aware of and follow all size limits for files. Proofread and pay attention to detail to avoid lost points. Ask one or more colleagues to proofread your application. 3. Log on at the top of the NEAFCS website, http://www.neafcs.org/. 4. Click on Awards on the top toolbar. On the Awards homepage, click on Awards Instructions Step-by-Step Guide Screen Shots for directions for submitting your online application. NOTE: Florida is in the SOUTHERN Region. *The online award application has a word count in place for the 30-word summary. It is easiest to use a word processing program to compose and word-count the summary then cut and paste it into the online application form. The 30-word summary will be used for the awards booklet that will be available online after the Annual Session. 5. Print Confirmation page (needed if a national winner), and as proof of your submission. *Forward your award submission confirmation email to Angela Hinkle ahinkle@ufl.edu. SUBMISSION INSTRUCTIONS AND DEADLINE 1. Upload your entire application packet, including all supporting documentation as required for the respective award, to the Awards section of the NEAFCS website, following the instructions outlined above by Friday, February 16, 2018.
2. Keep a copy of your application packet with signed Online Award confirmation page as a back-up. *Forward your award submission confirmation email to Angela Hinkle ahinkle@ufl.edu. 3. Winners will be notified via e-mail by early-april. Regional and National winners will be notified via e-mail by the late-may. State level only award applications will be due April 2, 2018. Nominations and applications are solicited in the spring of each year and are due by April 2 to the respective Awards and Recognition Committee member. Unlike the NEAFCS awards, competition for the FEAFCS awards progresses no further than the state level. Recipients are recognized at the annual Extension Professional Associations of Florida Professional Improvement Conference. The following awards are presented by FEAFCS: Program of Excellence Award recognizes quality Extension Family and Consumer Sciences educational programs with documented outcomes and impacts. Applications may be submitted for individual or team programming efforts. Application is by self-application following established guidelines. A maximum of ten awards may be presented annually. Outstanding Specialist Award recognizes outstanding Extension Specialist support of Family and Consumer Sciences programs. This may include curriculum development, in-service training, grant funding, and other efforts to facilitate
program development and delivery at the county level. Application is made by submission of a nomination form by an FEAFCS member. Friend of FEAFCS Award recognizes individuals or organizations in the business, government, or private sector who demonstrate outstanding support of the Extension Family and Consumer Sciences program through advocacy, collaboration, or financial support. Application is made by submission of a nomination form by an FEAFCS member. Para-Professional Award recognizes a Family and Consumer Sciences paraprofessional or program assistant for outstanding program delivery and support. Application is made by submission of a nomination form by an FEAFCS member. 4-H Youth Development Award recognizes a member of FEAFCS for outstanding contributions in support of the 4-H Youth Development program through educational programs and support. Applications may be submitted for individual or team programming efforts. Application is by self-application following established guidelines.
