SRI KRISHNA ARTS AND SCIENCE COLLEGE TROOP NO :¼ 6(TN) MED COY NCC COIMBATORE NATIONAL CADET CORPS The National Cadet Corps is the Indian military cadet corps with its Headquarters at New Delhi, Delhi, India. It is open to school and college students on voluntary basis. National Cadet Corps is a Tri-Services Organization, comprising the Army, Navy and Air Force, engaged in grooming the youth of the country into disciplined and patriotic citizens. The National Cadet Corps in India is a voluntary organization which recruits cadets from high schools, colleges and universities all over India. The Cadets are given basic military training in small arms and parades. The officers and cadets have no liability for active military service once they complete their course but are given preference over normal candidates during selections based on the achievements in the corps. AIM OF NCC The Aims of the NCC laid out in 1988 have stood the test of time and continue to meet the requirements expected of it in the current socio economic scenario of the country. The NCC aims at developing character, comradeship, discipline, a secular outlook, the spirit of adventure and ideals of selfless service amongst young citizens. Further, it aims at creating a pool of organized, trained and motivated youth with leadership qualities in all walks of life, who will serve the Nation regardless of which career they choose. Needless to say, the NCC also provides an environment conducive to motivating young Indians to join the armed forces.

To Create a Human Resource of Organized, Trained and Motivated Youth, To Provide Leadership in all Walks of life and be Always Available for the Service of the Nation. To Provide a Suitable Environment to Motivate the Youth to Take Up a Career in the Armed Forces. To Develop Character, Comradeship, Discipline, Leadership, Secular Outlook, Spirit of Adventure, and Ideals of Selfless Service amongst the Youth of the Country. Core Values The NCC is a responsive, learning and continuously evolving organization. Its activity is guided by certain core values that we Endeavour to instill among all ranks of the NCC. These include the following: (a) A sense of patriotic commitment to encourage cadets to contribute to national development. (b) Respect for diversities in religion, language, culture, ethnicity, life style and habitat to instill a sense of National unity and social cohesion. (c) Abiding commitment to learn and adhere to the norms and values enshrined in the Indian Constitution. (d) Understanding the value of a just and impartial exercise of authority. (e) Ability to participate in community development and other social programme. (f) A healthy life style free of substance abuse and other unhealthy practices. (g) Sensitivity to the needs of poor and socially disadvantaged fellow citizens. (h) Inculcating habits of restraint and self-awareness. (j) Understanding the values of honesty, truthfulness, self-sacrifice, perseverance and hard work. (k) Respect for knowledge, wisdom and the power of ideas. NCC MOTTO The discussion for motto of NCC was started in 11th central advisory meeting (CAD) held on 11 August 1978. At that time there were many mottos in mind like "Duty and Discipline"; "Duty, Unity and Discipline"; "Duty and Unity"; "Unity and Discipline". later, at the 12thCAD meeting on 12 Oct 1980 they selected and declared "Unity and Discipline" as motto for the NCC. In living up to its motto, the NCC strives to be and is one of the greatest cohesive forces of the nation, bringing together the youth hailing from different parts of the country and moulding them into united, secular and disciplined citizens of the nation.

NCC SKASC NCC - SKASC Senior Division NCC Unit Has Been Raised During 2013-14 With A Full Company Of 50 Cadets. Present C.Manikandan, M.Com.,M.Phil., Assistant Professor in Commerce is serving as an Associate NCC Officer of the college.
