Dear Artist, Howell Main Street Inc. s Design Committee invites you to participate in the 4th Howell public art competition. This competition is open to all artists 18 years of age or older, to submit original artwork for consideration. The competition details are enclosed. This year the competition is open to both two-dimensional and threedimensional artwork created in any media. A jury will determine the top entrants for each category, and then a public jury will decide the top 8 twodimensional pieces and the top 3-5 three-dimensional pieces. Up to eight original winning two dimensional works, plus sculptures, will then form an outdoor gallery throughout downtown Howell businesses for guests and residents to see! The top 8 pieces of two dimensional artwork from each category will be auctioned off by Howell Main Street Inc. at an artist reception. 60% of the proceeds from the auction will go directly to the artist, with 40% benefitting Howell Main Street Inc. In addition, the Best of Show winner, determined by the private jury, will win a cash prize. The top pieces of three dimensional artwork will be on loan to Howell Main Street Inc. for one year and each artist will receive a $600 stipend for their submission. Artists can submit as many 2D or 3D art entries as they would like, as long as payment is received for each submission. Consideration will not be given to those pieces postmarked after May 11, 2018.
