LAST WEEK'S GUESTS: non meeting Nick's Notes: Two or three times a year, I repeat a column. For instance, on duck race day I like to re print the poem concerning the late Gavin Andersen and I. Today I am using the fabulous song written by Sanders and Swan, bitching about the weather. https://ui.constantcontact.com/visualeditor/visual_editor_preview.jsp?agent.uid=1130336696903&format=html&print=true 2/14

Sheila will organize, after consulting with Eileen regarding date, preferably the last week in June. Supplies: Would like to replenish supplies of WSR brochures (500 ordered in September). MOVED/SECONDED/PASSED. Secretary's Report: Yvonne Senturia February minutes accepted with corrected name of Foundation bank account from Frankie Smith. MOVED/SECONDED/PASSED Treasurer's Report: Phil Sharlach Phil billed the club for personal printer cartridge, used partially to print reports. Mario, Helen, Ed, Karen, John and others felt that, as per current practice, board members should not seek reimbursement for personal paper and cartridge costs. After vote, Phil agreed to reimburse the club. Eileen and others had asked last month for a forecast of anticipated expenses through June 2018. After discussion of partial report, Phil promised to send this week by email a complete report of anticipated expenses against budget through June 2018. Board members will be able to comment by reply email. Ron will check with Joe Hawley regarding student of the month expenses that appear not to have been submitted for reimbursement, as well as schedule of any remaining students for this academic year. Motion to approved February treasurer's report, pending reimbursement for printer cartridge: MOVED/SECONDED/PASSED. Staples Tuition Grant: Jeff Cohen After discussion, motion to recommend to the Foundation that $1500 (preferably from FCCF youth funds) be added to Cheryl Eldh's contribution for 2018 Dick Eldh Westport https://ui.constantcontact.com/visualeditor/visual_editor_preview.jsp?agent.uid=1130336696903&format=html&print=true 4/14

Attending: Ron Holtz, Karen Kleine, Yvonne Senturia, Helen Garten, Jeff Cohen, Ralph Krueger, Phil Sharlach, Mario SaCouto, Liz Wong, Roy Fuchs, Ed Horne, Eileen Flug, June Getraer, Bruce Paul and John Hendrickson. Maker Faire: Mark Mathias Motion to approve Overwatch Reinhardt to be branded with WSR logo for $5,000 sponsorship at the March 5th WSR board meeting was pending Helen and Eileen receiving and approving letter from Blizzard Entertainment allowing the logo to be placed on Overwatch and releasing WSR from liability when using photos taken at the event with and of Overwatch. In fact, the man dressing as Overwatch is not licensed by Blizzard Entertainment. The Foundation board reaffirmed the WSR board's refusal to proceed with the sponsorship. Mark presented three alternative sponsorship opportunities. One alternative was to sponsor the bus transporting attendees between the various Maker Faire attendees, including Maker Faire covering costs and manpower to prepare and affix special Sunrise Rotary signage to the sides of the bus. After discussion, a proposal to sponsor the bus for $5,000 as outlined above was MOVED/SECONDED/PASSED. This request from the https://ui.constantcontact.com/visualeditor/visual_editor_preview.jsp?agent.uid=1130336696903&format=html&print=true 6/14

WSR board will be referred to the 21st Century Foundation. Westport Rotary District Managed Grant: Steve Lewine Rotary International will not allow financing of construction under global grants. NicaPhoto does not have the funds to put roof on the classrooms recently built by Westport volunteers. Our district currently has $4,700 left in the fund for new district managed grants (which do allow financing of construction expenses). In order to obtain the full amount of matching funds available, Steve requested that we participate in their district managed grant application for $2,200. The Westport Rotary Club will privately raise all the monies necessary and will donate the $2,200 back to Westport Sunrise Rotary. Eileen proposed/liz seconded a proposal that Westport Sunrise Rotary participate in Westport Rotary Club's district managed grant for NicaPhoto, by signing the grant application, with the understanding that the $2,200 in privately raised funds will be donated back to Westport Sunrise Rotary Club. Motion carried (14 yea/1 nay).
