Reconnaissance and Surveillance Leaders Course EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

RSLC Mission Statement Conduct the Reconnaissance and Surveillance Leaders Course to train leaders to plan and execute reconnaissance, surveillance, and target acquisition missions in support of a combat information collection plan. Train Reconnaissance and Surveillance Leaders to find, collect, and report

RSLC Summary 26 Day (Resident/non-Resident) course focusing on skills and leader tasks required to conduct persistent ISR missions, in which successful completion of course requirements results in the awarding of the ASI-6B: Additionally, RSLC is a modular organization capable of tailoring training to support various units needs. Course Information 8-9 Resident Courses (26 Day) per year 54 ATRRs slots allocated (Can take up to 64) 2 Mobile Training Team (MTT) options: - Replace scheduled resident course at unit s home station - Menu-based training option for units (resident or MTT) Units can buy out a course to be conducted at RTB (Resident Unit Training or RUT) Main source of students: Operational Force, Joint Community, and SOF Total trained from FY 08-present: 1765 Total MOS trained: 33 Skills/Tasks Collection/Reporting Skills: Adv STANO Photography Observation Tech BLOS Commo (HF, SATCOM) DATA Transmission Planning: Detailed TLPs Contingencies Operational Skills: Recon/Surv TTPs Small Unit Tactics Camouflage Target Acquisition Insertion/Extraction Skills Evasion & Recovery Survival POI Driven By TRADOC Guidance Course Critiques RI Experience Unit CDRs Combat Lessons Learned Training Centers

Course Pre-Requisites and Graduation Requirements Course Pre-Requisites E4 or above (can be waivered to E3 by the first O5 in chain of command) Current Ranger Physical (within 18 months) Recommended: Pass APFT at unit with chin-ups Land Navigation Training (both map reading and practical exercise) Road march to Ranger Standard (12-miles, 3:00) Graduation Requirements Pass: Pass the APFT at 70% of age group with 6 chin-ups Land navigation exam (written & PE) Communications exam (written & hands-on) 50% GO on graded patrols during the FTX; one passing grade must be a primary leadership position (TL or ATL) 70% score required to pass all written exams If students fail initial tests, the POI includes retraining and re-testing for all events Receive no more than 3-major minus spot reports: Automatic Board Case Cannot miss more than 72 hours of training due to injury or illness
