This conference is meant to be as broadly interdisciplinary as possible bridging science, social science, and policy perspectives with literature, humanities and creative arts. Like previous SHE meetings, it is intended to bring together a diverse group of educators, researchers and practitioners who utilize, or are interested in, interdisciplinary and ecological approaches to all aspects of human ecology education and research across a range of scales. We look forward to a diverse and exciting program with an excellent range of speakers, symposia, round tables, and individual presentations. Symposia and papers on the following themes are especially encouraged; Health, Aging, and Demographic Change Sustainable Cities and Landscapes Food and Water Systems Communities in Transition: Implications for rural resilience, biodiversity, and tourism However, papers on other aspects of human ecology education and research are encouraged.
I. CALL FOR PARTICIPATION A. Abstract Preparation Abstract preparation for contributed papers should include: The full title of the paper and name(s), institutional affiliation(s) and email address(es) for registered presenter(s). Similar information should be submitted for poster presentations. Those who are organizing symposia should likewise provide information for all presenters in their session, but at this point we only need an abstract for the symposium itself, not individual papers within it. Abstracts should be about 150 200 words and include three to five key words. Abstracts can be submitted as an attachment or as email text. Please send to sheconference2017@up.edu.ph and in the subject line of the email please indicate "SHE Abstract". Early submissions help the conference committee identify emerging themes and design the program. Thus, we encourage early symposia/paper/poster submissions and "draft" abstracts as soon as is possible keeping in mind revisions are always accepted up to the final deadline date. B. Guidelines for Submission 1. Organized Sessions/Symposia: Organized sessions should be designed to fill a 2 hour block and involve 4 presenters. At this point only the session theme and the organizer s name and institution are needed. Email contact information, institutional affiliations and abstracts for all symposia presenters are required by September 07, 2017. 2. Contributed Papers: Individual papers will be grouped on similar issues. Paper presentations (c. 20 minutes in duration) will be placed in 2 hour time slots, with time allotted for end ofsession discussion. Please send presenter(s), titles and institutional information as soon as possible. Submission and review of abstracts is open until September 07, 2017. 3. Posters: Space and time will be provided for poster style presentations.
