Description/Purpose and Target Audience The 24th Annual May Day Trauma Conference continues to maintain the tradition of creating an annual forum utilizing outstanding faculty and nationally recognized experts known for their contributions to the advancement of trauma care and emergency medical service systems. This year s presentations examine diverse subjects from evidence based practice and innovative advances in the care of injured patients. This two day conference has been designed to meet the needs of all health care professionals involved in the trauma and disaster care continuum. Objectives Upon completion of the conference, the attendee will be able to: Examine contemporary clinical issues in life-threatening injuries in patients from the trauma environment. Identify emerging trends and recent advances in the pre-hospital, medical and nursing management of trauma patients. Discuss an organized approach to critical decision making with regard to trauma care issues. Describe the pathophysiology of specific injuries in caring for trauma patients. Accreditation This activity has been planned and implemented in accordance with the Essentials and Standards of the North Carolina Medical Society. The Greensboro AHEC is accredited by the NCMS to provide continuing medical education for physicians. Continuing Education Credit Disclosure Greensboro AHEC adheres to the ACCME and ANCC Standards regarding industry support of continuing education. Disclosure of the planning committee and faculty s commercial relationships, if any, will be made known at the time of the activity. Speakers will also state when off-label or experimental use of drugs or devices is incorporated in their presentation. A list of supporters, if any, will be made known at the time of the activity. Registration Please see the registration page for fee schedule. Registration fee includes credit, online handouts, continental breakfast, lunch and breaks. Early registration is strongly encouraged due to the limited space. All registrants must register online at www.gahec.org or by mailing your form with payment to the address on the registration form. Registrations will not be processed unless accompanied by full payment. The registration deadline is April 24, 2013. When your registration is processed, you will receive a receipt and/or confirmation. Cancellations: Cancellations received after April 24, 2013 will not be refunded. A cancellation fee of $75 will be charged at that time. An administrative fee of 25% will be deducted from all refunds. Substitutions will be accepted with advance notification and receipt of registration form for the substitute. Substitutions made after April 24, 2013 will be subject to an administrative fee of 25%. Handouts/Online Certificates: Handouts will be available online one week prior to the activity and for one week following. You can access them by going to www.gahec.org and clicking on the My CE Area. After you attend, you can again log on to complete the program evaluation and receive your certificate. Physicians: The Greensboro Area Health Education Center (GAHEC) designates this live activity for a maximum of 12.5 AMA PRA Category 1 Credit(s). Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity. Nurses: Earn up to 12.5 CNE contact hours (AP004-1276). Greensboro AHEC is an approved provider of continuing nursing education by the North Carolina Nurses Association, an accredited approver by the American Nurses credential Center s Commission on Accreditation.
