Oh, What A Night! Sing and Serve A Success! Lakewood Music Boosters held our first Sing & Serve May 19th at Around the Corner. The evening was a lot of fun while raising money for our music programs K-12. Our servers for the evening were music teachers Matt Fitz, Aaron Waryk, Lisa Richards, John Blasko, Clinton Steinbrunner, Peter Hampton and LHS principal Keith Ahearn. Many karaoke songs were performed thanks to Mike Whitkofski and the students enjoyed hearing and singing with their teachers. The chance raffle had over 30 items to win. We also had tips jar wars with Mozart beating Beethoven and The Rolling Stones beating the Beatles. We had a buffet dinner available as well as a limited menu. The room filled up fast so next year we hope to have a larger venue. Thank you to all who attended and helped make the evening a huge success. A special thanks to the people and companies that donated for our chance raffle: African Safari Wildlife Park, Akron Symphony, Cathy Livingston (Girl Scout Cookies), Chipotle, Cleveland Cavaliers, Cleveland Gladiators, Cleveland Metroparks, Cleveland Orchestra, Educator's Music, Guitar Center N. Musicians will be handing out the 2017-2018 performance schedule, Music Boosters Memberships/ Phone app, and accepting free will donations. This year will prove to be a wonderful year. http://lakewoodmusicboosters.com/ Twitter @LkwdMusicboost Facebook @LKWDMusicBoosters

Sax to the Max Lakewood Music Boosters supports all the Lakewood music programs from K-12. We reimburse teachers for classroom needs and supply volunteers for concerts and events. This year we provided $4,000 to help Garfield Middle School purchase a new baritone saxophone. The school provides instruments for student use but the instruments do age and eventually need replaced. It is especially difficult for the elementary and middle school teachers to get the necessary funding to replace these instruments so Music Boosters helps when we can. We also help facilitate the donation of used instruments that are much needed for our beginning instrument programs. Recently a drum set and a flute were donated and added to the band instrument inventory. See the picture of the new saxophone with GMS students Sullivan Stois and Joe Twardesky.

LHS PTA is looking forward to another exciting and productive year of supporting LHS students with our PTA programs. Join LHS PTA to have a voice where your monies are spent. For example, past years monies allocated were varied: microscopes, math programs, CPR certification, electronics equipment for Westshore, Barnstormers, the Mock Election, scholarships, H20, and Fresh Start, Teacher Conference Dinners, Student Council, Senior Reception and After Prom. With a group voice, we can make change such as the evaluation of the dress code. Additionally, PTA looks to help create more 'spirit' in the building: from pep rallies and supporting new events/spaces as we move into our completed building. You can help PTA with creating more spirit events and lasting LHS memories for your student! LHS PTA support can be found behind the scenes making a difference. Along with your membership, consider an additional donation to the Painless Project. There's no work involved and your support goes directly back to our great programs. It is only with your support through Membership and the Painless Project that we make a difference at LHS. Our first meeting: Tuesday, September 26 th, 7:00pm, in the Ranger Café Classroom We hope to see you there. Email us at lakewoodhighschoolpta@gmail.com or through our Facebook page - Lakewood High School PTA for questions, thoughts, concerns or ideas.
