The Loeb Center for Nursing and Rehabilitation Project was established in 1963 under the leadership of Mrs. Lydia E. Hall. The project was based upon Mrs. Hall's concepts for a facility which would admit patients from acute hospital units who were no longer in physiological crisis but still required nursing care/medical supervision on a 24-hour basis as well as daily evaluation. Drawing from the various sciences, Hall developed a concept of nursing which she identified as a "process of nurturing", i.e. fostering the growth and development of individuals and thereby achieving wellness. Scope and Contents This small collection of documents relates to the Loeb Center for Nursing and Rehabilitation at Montefiore Medical Center, Bronx, New York. It was acquired from Fay W.
