Review the WKCTC Scholarship Opportunities brochure. Read the scholarship descriptions to determine information to submit under Other and Optional sections of the online application. 5. Follow online instructions. Notable Information Your scholarship eligibility is based upon the information provided on the application. Please include as much information as possible. Students may elect to complete any or all of the Optional Information section of the application; however, such information may be required to be eligible for specific scholarships. It is the responsibility of the student to ensure all required information is received by the WKCTC Scholarship Office by the stated deadline. High School Seniors The WKCTC Scholarship Office will contact your high school counselor upon the completion of your seventh semester of your senior year. High school counselors will verify each applicant's cumulative GPA, class rank and ACT composite score as of the completion of the seventh semester (schools using block schedules will report information as of December 31). Though the WKCTC Scholarship Office requests this information from high school counselors, it is the APPLICANT S responsibility to ensure that an official transcript, including ACT scores, is received by the WKCTC Scholarship Office by the stated deadline. High School Seniors Home School You must print the Counselor Verification Form. This form is available on the scholarship Web site. The verification form must be completed by your administrator. Obtain an official seventh-semester transcript (schools using block schedules should provide a transcript as of December 31) and a copy of your ACT scores from your administrator. All information (counselor verification, transcript, ACT) must be received by the WKCTC Scholarship Office by the stated deadline. Commonwealth Middle College and Community Scholarship Program Seniors In addition to completing the tasks under High School Seniors, you must also complete a FAFSA and provide a FAFSA confirmation page for the upcoming fall semester (2018). NOTE: Though not required, CMC and CSP seniors are strongly encouraged to provide a written description of financial need in the appropriate portion of the Scholarship Application. Your statement may be reviewed by the Scholarship Committee and should support the FAFSA report. MERIT SCHOLARSHIPS Merit scholarships are available to current high school seniors and currently enrolled WKCTC applicants. HIGH SCHOOL SENIORS Current high school seniors (including Commonwealth Middle College and Community Scholarship Program seniors) are eligible for merit scholarships at WKCTC if: A complete scholarship application is submitted. An official seventh-semester transcript and ACT score has been submitted with the Counselor Verification Form. Schools using block schedules should provide a transcript as of December 31. They meet additional GPA / ACT, class rank or National Merit requirements listed below. They are a full-time student (12 15 hours). NOTE: Merit Scholarships are eligible for renewal for a second continuous year of study. Students must complete a minimum of 24 graded college hours by the completion of the spring semester and must maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.00 or greater. KCTCS Commonwealth Scholarship (Full Tuition & Mandatory Fee) Available to a valedictorian of any public Kentucky high school (as of the seventh semester / December 31 for schools using block schedules). National Merit Scholarship Stipend ($2000) Available to all National Merit Finalists and Semi-Finalists. This scholarship is in addition to other awards received. They have a cumulative high school GPA of 3.00 or above. They have a cumulative college GPA of 3.00 or above (applies to CMC seniors only). They have submitted a 2018 FAFSA application and supplied the Scholarship Office with a copy of the web confirmation page by the application deadline. They are a full-time student (12-15 hours). Some exceptions apply. NOTE: Commonwealth Middle College and Community Scholarship Program funding is considered last aid applied. PJC Middle College Scholarship (Full Tuition After Other Aid) Available to seniors attending the Commonwealth Middle College. The scholarship covers the remainder of full tuition after all financial aid and additional scholarship awards (including KEES funding) have been applied. Commonwealth Middle College Scholarships are eligible for renewal for a second continuous year of study. Students must complete a minimum of 24 graded college hours by the completion of the spring semester and must maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.00 or greater. COMMUNITY SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM SENIORS Current seniors participating in the Community Scholarship Program MUST: are eligible for merit scholarships at WKCTC if: Complete a WKCTC scholarship application. They have a cumulative GPA of 3.75 or above. They have completed a minimum of 12 college hours (PCC and WKTC credits apply). They are enrolled in at least 9 credit hours per semester. NOTE: Merit Scholarships are for one academic year only. Beiderwell Scholarship II (20% of Tuition & Mandatory Fee) Available to all students who meet the GPA and credit hour criteria noted above. 12 Beiderwell II HOURS / GPA 3.75
ENDOWED AND NEED-BASED SCHOLARSHIPS An endowed scholarship is an award based upon stated criteria. Students should consider endowed scholarship award criteria when completing the scholarship application and providing information. A need-based scholarship is an award that is based upon stated criteria as well as evidence of financial need. The WKCTC Scholarship Committee considers the FAFSA-calculated EFC (expected family contribution) as an indication of financial need. All students are encouraged to complete a FAFSA and submit a copy of the web confirmation page to the Scholarship Office by the application deadline. Students who do not submit a FAFSA web confirmation that includes an EFC will not be considered for any scholarship where financial need is indicated.
