Community Sponsorships Our members. Our community. Our WA.

Community Sponsorships Our members. Our community. Our WA. RAC has been an integral part of the WA community for 110 years and we continue to give back to our members and the wider community by reinvesting our profits to benefit WA. In 2011 we launched our Community Sponsorships program to empower communities across WA to deliver unique and enriching initiatives that address the issues we feel passionately about.» We want all Western Australians to be able to move around the State in a safe and sustainable way.» We want you to get home safely by raising awareness and educating you on how to stay safe on the roads.» We want you to have a range of transport choices to help reduce congestion on our roads.» We want to see emissions from passenger vehicles reduced so that you can breathe easier.» We want to make WA a better place to live. By following this step by step guide you can learn how to apply for a range of sponsorships that will help drive your initiative further as we lead the charge in making WA a better place. Let s get started

Step one Check your eligibility»

Step one Check your eligibility Each sponsorship category attracts its own set of criteria to ensure our support is directed to initiatives that we feel passionately about. Most importantly, the initiatives that we support must address one of our sponsorship focus areas. These are: Focus areas Safe driving We believe that all road users have the right to be safe when using WA roads. > Initiatives which raise awareness or educate the community on safe road use and safe driving behaviours Less emissions We want to lower emissions from vehicles. > Initiatives where the primary objective is to lower emissions from passenger vehicles > Initiatives that reduce the impact commuter transport has on the environment Commuter choices We want to encourage more West Australians to walk, cycle and use public transport. > Initiatives that encourage the use of active and public transport to help make moving around more efficient and affordable For the better From our humble beginnings to the diverse organisation we are today, there is one thing that has not changed and that s our drive to make WA a better place. > Unique and enriching community initiatives that have innovative opportunities to promote one of our key focus areas; Safe driving, Less emissions or Commuter choices > Initiatives that are forward thinking and aim to make WA a better place to live > Initiatives that align to this focus areas must also address one or more of our sponsorship priority areas (see page 5) To be eligible for sponsorship your initiative must align to at least one of our sponsorship focus areas. The chosen focus area should be an integral part of your initiative. 4

Initiatives that will not be supported > Individual pursuits such as sponsorship to attend conferences, competitions, sport, etc > Initiatives that make grants available to others > Driver licensing programs or activities (i.e. workshops to obtain a learners permit, the provision of supervised driving hours, subsidies for practical driver assessments) > Retrospective requests > Initiatives coordinated by a community group with an outstanding sponsorship acquittal > Events or activities based outside of Western Australia > Events or activities which are curriculumbased or part of the educational institutions core activities > Events or activities where the primary focus is fundraising > Events or activities that promote a particular religious or spiritual philosophy > Events or activities that promote a political organisation or political outlook > Events or activities that do not comply with the RAC s Alcohol Promotions Policy (see Appendix A) Costs that will not be supported > Ordinary running costs that create financial dependency on the RAC e.g. electricity, lease, rent, telephone, wages > Significant capital works, major equipment or infrastructure costs > Equipment that needs regular replacing or upgrading such as computers, mobile phones and bikes > Sporting team apparel > Insurance and/or roadside assistance Sponsorship priority areas To strengthen your application, outline how your initiative addresses one of our sponsorship priority areas. Initiatives that also align to a sponsorship priority area will be looked upon more favourably. These are: Regional We encourage initiatives that actively engage with regional communities Wheatbelt We encourage initiatives that are focused on improving road safety in the Wheatbelt Youth We encourage initiatives that target the next generation Emergency response We are there to help in times of need and want to support groups that help to make WA safer for all Iconic We look for initiatives that are uniquely West Australian and have significant reach into the community RAC heritage We support initiatives that celebrate our history as the first motoring club of WA and our heritage since forming in 1905 Seniors We encourage initiatives that help support those who have been the founding partners of the RAC 5

Appendix A Alcohol promotions policy As an advocate for road safety RAC would like to see a reduction in the number of deaths and serious injuries that result from drink driving. One component of this is ensuring that all organisations sponsored by the RAC adhere to RAC s Alcohol Promotions Policy. Alcohol promotion can occur in various forms including logo placement, verbal acknowledgments, branded merchandise and clothing, product tasting, competitions, product placement, advertising and website links. The RAC acknowledges that many community events will serve alcohol however the following conditions must be adhered to if you are receiving sponsorship support from the RAC: > You must adhere to the Liquor Control Act and ensure that all staff and volunteers are trained in the Responsible Service of Alcohol. > You must refrain from providing alcohol as a prize or award. > You must make non-alcoholic beverages and low strength alcoholic beverages readily available. > You must ensure that no activity or promotion encourages the rapid consumption of alcohol (this includes but is not limited to the offering of discounted drink prices, happy hours or drinking competitions). > You must not engage in promotions or use event names that glamorise alcohol or its consumption. > Only modest point-of-sale promotions such as alcohol branded fridges and bar taps are permitted. If alcohol promotion is occurring at your event you must: In your application > Outline what alcohol promotion activities will be taking place at the event. > Outline what supporting policies you have in place in relation to the service of alcohol. > Confirm that the organisation is able to adhere to the RAC s Alcohol Promotions Policy. Once approved > Seek approval from the RAC prior to entering into new agreements that will result in the promotion of alcohol at the event. Please note that this policy does not > Seek to prevent the serving of alcohol at your event provided it meets liquor licensing requirements and does not breach this policy. > Prevent sponsorship by a licensed premise for the event provided it is outlined in the application or approval is sought prior to entering into an agreement and it does not breach this policy. If you are unsure on any of the above information please contact the RAC Sponsorship team to discuss further on 9436 4411. 13
