HIE/HIO Organizations Supporting Meaningful Use (MU) Stage 2 Goals Q4 Update from HIE Survey Participants January 9, 2015

Purpose of HIE Survey Update The purpose of the HIE Survey was two-fold: To recognize trends and progress compared to our HIE Survey results To identify areas where the HIMSS HIE Committee could develop resources or provide information to support to our nation s HIEs/HIOs Key information: Methodology: For both the and HIE Surveys, HIMSS used an online survey tool which allowed self reporting and participants to remain confidential. Survey: The HIMSS HIE Committee conducted a survey in to report if local, regional, private HIE/HIOs are offering Meaningful Use related services to their stakeholders. The survey targeted an audience of HIE/HIO organizations. Survey Update: The HIMSS HIE Committee asked the survey participants to provide updated answers to the same questions in an effort to help identify any potential trends or areas that the would generate impactful results for the HIE community.

Computerized Provider Order Entry (CPOE) Does your HIE provide services or a gateway to facilitate orders/results delivery? 48% 52% 26% 74% Use CPOE for medication, laboratory and radiology orders directly entered by any licensed healthcare professional who can enter orders into the medical record per state, local and professional guidelines. If order goes beyond organizational boundaries, then Enterprise HIE is implied and could be involved.
