December 4, 2017 Application Contest for university students hosted by KDDI Foundation (ACKF) KDDI Foundation (Japan) is inviting participants to an Application Contest for the students of computer/technological universities as follows: 1. Objective: The objective for this contest is to give the opportunity to learn a process to find and resolve problems in life and society in Myanmar, as well as enhancing university student skills by experiencing an application development through this Application Contest. 2. Eligibility for Participation: The participation to this contest is limited to the students of eighteen (18) computer/technological universities(see Appendix 1), which have already had a close cooperative relationship through APT projects, are eligible for this contest. (NOTE 1) (NOTE 1: The number of universities will be limited because it is the first attempt.) Only undergraduate students is eligible for this contest. Each team consists of up to five(5) students. A team of one student is also eligible. 3. Theme: Resolving the problems in life and society in the country Any category is available(agriculture, tourism, education, life improvement and so on.). Although games for educational purpose are acceptable, non-educational games such as gun shooting, fighting and roll-play adventure are not acceptable. 4. Developing Application and Devices: No restrictions Selection of type of applications and devices has no restrictions, as long as those are most suitable for resolving the selected problems. Mobile/WEB/PC applications are acceptable. The license of the developed application belongs to the students who developed the application. However, the use of license of the developed application must be given to KDDI Foundation(the host of this contest) in order to make publicity activities for supporting the contest. - 1 -

Development Environment: No restrictions Participants choose the most suitable OS (no restrictions) Smart Devices: Android, ios and etc. PC: WINDOWS/MacOS/Linux and etc. Application Languages: Myanmar Language and/or English Each team should prepare necessary environment for application development and presentation. (Dedicated environment (NW/Servers) will not be provided.) No specific training course for this contest will be provided. 6. Schedule: Orientation Meeting (for Teachers): December 4 th, 2017 Due for submission of Entry Form: December 25 th, 2017 Due for submission of Application Form: January 25 th, 2018 Announcement of Finalist Teams: February 9 th, 2018 Final Demonstration/Evaluation: March 3 rd, 2018 (Pending Approval) 7. Evaluation Steps: There are three (3) steps for evaluation of this contests. The participants should use English for fulfillment of necessary Entry/Application Forms and making Final Demonstration of this contest. 1 Entry to the Contest Each team should submit the Entry Form to the Secretariats of this Contest by December 25th, 2017, in order to express the intention of participation with brief descriptions of: - what problem they find - how they resolve - how the application improves the life, society and regional activation The Entry Form should be sent by e-mail to apply-ackf@kddi-foundation.or.jp. The Entry Form will be accepted if each item in the Entry Form is reasonably filled out. If the Entry Form will not be acceptable, the Secretariats will ask the team to fix and resend the Entry Form. The participants will receive the Entry Acceptance mail with Entry Number. The Secretariats will announce the number of accepted Entry Forms. - 2 -

2 Preliminary Evaluation Each team should submit Application Form to the Secretariats of this Contest by January 25 st, 2018. Followings should be included: - Description of what problem they find - Description of how they resolve - Description of how the application improves the life, society and regional activation - A paper presentation of the application by using PDFs, Power Points and videos. Video data should be uploaded to YOUTUBE (the length should be less than five (5) minutes), and the linkage to YOUTUBE should be written in a paper presentation. The explanation such as Use it then you will know how it works is not acceptable. Application Form should be sent by e-mail to apply-ackf@kddi-foundation.or.jp. The Application Form will be accepted if each item in the Entry Form is reasonably filled out. If the Application Form will not be acceptable, the Secretariats will ask the team to fix and resend the Application Form and attachment. The participants will receive the Application Acceptance mail. The Secretariats will announce the number of accepted Application Forms. Ten(10) teams for final demonstration/evaluation would be selected and announced by the Secretariat of this contest and announced by February 9th, 2018. 3 Final Demonstration/Evaluation (Pending Approval) Final demonstration/evaluation would be held on March 3 rd, 2018 in Yangon. Each team makes a final demonstration in front of the member of Evaluation Committee and the guests. Each team has approximately 10 minutes (including Q&A) for presentation. An Projector can be used for the demonstration by connecting PCs and/or Smart devices. Each team has to choose either of (1) Connecting each teamʼs server via Wi-Fi prepared in the contest venue, or (2) bringing each teamʼs environment such as Wi-F router, Hub Switch, the serve and so on. Award ceremony will be also held on the same day. Transportation/accommodation fee and allowance would be provided for up to 2 people (+1 teacher as a guardian) each team. - 3 -

Evaluation Points: 1 Perspective: How do they find the problem? 2 Contribution: How does it lead to the improvement of life, society and regional activation? 3 Completion: How is the quality (degree of completion) of the developed application? 4 Overcoming: How do they overcome the difficulties during application development? 9. Prize: 1 st Prize: 2,000 US$/team 2 nd Prize 1,000 US$/team 3 rd Prize 500 US$/team Incentive Prize 300 US$ each for remaining 7 teams In addition to the above, extra awards from sponsored companies may be also given. 10. The Evaluation Committee: The Evaluation Committee is responsible for making necessary evaluation and ranking ten (10) teams at Final Demonstration/Evaluation in Yangon on March 3 rd, 2018.
