NORTH CAROLINA CENTRAL UNIVERSITY ALUMNI ASSOCIATION, INC. Durham, NC 27707 National Alumni Scholarship Program NCCU Alumni Association, Inc. Durham, NC 27707 (919) 530-5222 [Phone] (919) 560-5864 [Fax] www.nccualumni.org Revised May 2017

The NORTH CAROLINA CENTRAL UNIVERSITY ALUMNI ASSOCIATION, INC. offers several NATIONAL ALUMNI SCHOLARSHIPS to students at North Carolina Central University. These scholarships vary in amount and may be renewable annually for up to four years. Recipients of these awards are designated as National Alumni Scholars. Since the alumni of North Carolina Central University are traditionally committed to high academic achievement and service to society, it follows that the purpose of the National Alumni Scholarship Program will be to assist North Carolina Central University in attracting to its campus outstanding students who exhibit high academic, citizenship and leadership characteristics, and desire to contribute positively to the quality of study and life at the University. Only those who have at least 3.0 B weighted grade point average and a SAT/ACT (Math/Reading/Writing) score of 1210/17 or above will be considered for alumni scholarships. Though the majority of National Alumni Scholarship awards made annually will be to incoming freshmen students, applications are acceptable from any student, regardless of classification or academic interest. All Alumni Scholars are required to carry a full class load as deemed appropriate by the University. National Alumni Scholars are required to maintain a cumulative grade point average equal to a 3.0 B each academic year, complete at least 24 volunteer hours within the NCCU Alumni House and organization, become a member of the NCCU Pre-Alumni Club, and attend at least one Alumni Association National Meeting (Annual/Council/Convention). The progress of these scholars will be reviewed at the end of each academic year by the National Alumni Scholarship Committee. Under certain circumstances, the assistance of faculty members will be sought to help these students achieve and maintain the minimum average for continuation of the scholarship. National Alumni Scholars will be selected from a variety of backgrounds and interests. The minimum scholastic average will not be waived for any student and the financial need will not be the primary criterion in determining the recipients for these scholarships. The deadline for receiving all application materials and renewal applications is March 15th (postmarked). Notices of initial and renewal awards will be made by May 20th of each year.
