Venturing Officers Association (VOA) actively seeking VOA Officers for 2017/2018. The VOA is a group of venturers that meets at the District, Council, Area, and Regional levels and provides support for your Venturing Crews. The VOA is youth run as almost all of Venturing programs are intended to be, and a strong VOA is required for the success for venturing on a council level. The VOA Officers will be timing out in June, and we are looking to fill the following positions: VOA President Vice President of Programs Vice President of Communication Vice President of Administration Treasurer You do not have to be an officer in your Crew to apply or attend meetings, any Venturing Youth can apply for these positions. If you are interested in becoming a VOA Officer, please complete the application (last page of the Venturing Times) or that is on the Venturing Web page (www.denverboyscouts.org click Youth Programs and click on Venturing). At VOA meetings, much of the planning for venturing activities on a council level happens. (Think about The Snow Snake Rendezvous, The Absurdly Formal Ball, etc.) Attending VOA meetings would give you an opportunity to participate in planning of those Venturing activities and opportunities, and empowers the youth to truly make Denver Area Council s Venturing Program what we, as youth, want it to be. The VOA currently meets at 7:00 p.m. on the 2 nd Thursday of every month at Hamilton Scout Headquarters. You can contact the VOA Advisor, Dean Stephens [deanstephens62@gmail.com] for more information or if you have any questions. Venturing Officers Association (VOA) Meeting Schedule for 2017 At VOA meetings, much of the planning for venturing activities on a council level happens. New Procedures for Tracking Venturing Awards! Rick Baldessari, Advancement Chairman, would like to be notified when Venturers receive any awards, especially the Ranger Award. As Venturing Awards are not being tracked by BSA, it is hard to know, as a Council, how many awards are being earned by Venturers. Reminder that the Summit Award requires a Board of Review (BOR), and a District Representative must be a part of that BOR. You can contact Rick directly with this information, or if you have any questions. Rick can be reached at 303-423-1887. Visit us at the Scout Show! There will be a Venturing Program Table at Scout Show, and loads of information. There will be drawings, (certificate for free Venturing X-Games Registration; certificate for free deposit for Powder Horn, etc.), flyers, a special edition of The Venturing Times, and lots of information about Venturing! Program Preview Is At The Scout Show! The Program Preview will be the first opportunity to hear about the upcoming 2017-2018 Scouting year and all the great opportunities being offered. All participants will receive a special gift from the Denver Area Council along with the 2017-2018 Council Calendar. The materials are being offered earlier this year so that they can be used during your Unit program planning cycle. Program Preview will be held on Saturday, April 29, 2017 at 11:00 am and again at 2:00 pm upstairs during the Scout Show at the Nation Western Complex. 3

This scholarship has been used in the past to allow crew members who wanted to attend Jamborees, X-Games, Snow Snake Rendezvous or another Venturing activity. There are a limited number of funds available in the John Kullman Scholarship - a scholarship fund set up to help Venturers make it to camping activities. Kullman Scholarship Fund The Venturing Green Kullman Scholarship Fund Bucket will be passed at all events. We hope you will donate and help out youth attend Venturing events! We hope that you will be able to help us once again build the fund and assist others who may otherwise not be able to attend these fun, memorable, leadership building outings.
