(UPDATED 1/2/18) JUDICIAL ASSIGNMENTS EFFECTIVE JANUARY 2, 2018 Judge Ginger E. Garrett will be the Presiding Judge for 2018. Judge Jacquelyn H. Duffy will be the Assistant Presiding Judge and act as Presiding Judge in Judge Garrett s absence. The following are the assignments effective January 2, 2018: CRIMINAL TEAM Judge Jacquelyn H. Covello, Veterans Memorial Building (SLO) and Paso Robles Branch Court DUTIES: The criminal team will handle all felony and misdemeanor criminal cases from arraignment to disposition, along with criminal writs, and Mentally Disordered Offender petitions (P.C. 2960). All felony and misdemeanor pretrial hearings, motions, and trials will be heard in the department where the defendant s case is assigned following arraignment. The judge presiding in that department will be assigned for all purposes for the balance of the case. Motions should be noticed at least ten (10) days in advance of the hearing date, trial or preliminary hearing. Applications for criminal writs on actions taken by the Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) should be filed with the Civil Department and will be assigned to a criminal bench officer based on the surname of the petitioner. Ex parte applications should be presented to the Criminal Department, Room 220. All juvenile delinquency and dependency calendars and contested hearings will be heard in Department 12 and at the Juvenile Services Center. Juvenile traffic will be called by a designated hearing officer at the Juvenile Services Center and by Commissioner Covello at the Paso Robles Courthouse. Traffic calendars will be called at the SLO Veterans Memorial Building and the Paso Robles Courthouse.
