50th Anniversary Dr. Marie Noël Keller, RSM Institute on Sacred Scripture July 29 August 3, 2018 The Joy of Scripture! A week of inspiring and thought-provoking scripture study at a location of quiet beauty and seclusion for meditation and respite, with many recreational activities on campus or nearby. Dr. Marie Noël Keller, RSM Institute on Sacred Scripture The Dr. Marie Noël Keller, RSM Institute on Sacred Scripture relates to those of all educational backgrounds with the simplicity and elegance of the Scriptures themselves. Every year when I return to this Institute on Sacred Scripture I experience the Sacred in the lectures, the hearts of the attendees and in the campus personnel with their sense of hospitality and mercy. I am always filled and refreshed by its grace. Kathleen Kaskel, RN, BCC Mountain Top, PA Misericordia University Center for Adult and Continuing Education Founded by the Sisters of Mercy All are welcome
Presenters Dr. Marie Noël Keller, RSM, Th.D. Executive Director Mary teaches in the field of New Testament studies, with a particular focus on the Gospel of John. She has been teaching at the Australian Catholic University, and has also taught at Boston College, the Jesuit School of Theology Berkeley, and at the Ecce Homo Biblical Institute Jerusalem. She is a member of the Studiorum Novi Testamenti Societas and other national and international biblical associations. She was recently appointed by the Pontifical Council for Christian Unity to participate in a 5 year Dialogue between the Catholic Church and the Disciples of Christ. Publications: Go to Home Page https://web.archive.org/web/20140821122150/http://marycoloe.org.au/homepage/ Sr. Barbara is a member of the Sisters of St. Dominic, Congregation of the Most Holy Name, from 1964 to the present. She has been teaching at the Dominican School of Philosophy and Theology for over 25 years. Before that, she taught religious studies at Dominican College in San Rafael and was responsible for their Humanities Program. As a teacher, Barbara is best captured in her own words: I hope to inspire in my students a deep love of the intellectual and spiritual tradition we have inherited in the study of the Bible. Through her scholarship, her entertaining personality and her deep love of the Word, she does just that! At every level! Indeed, she was the recipient of the Graduate Theological Union s 2016 Sarlo Excellence in teaching Award. In addition to her scholarly writing, Dr. Green has also written several works of imaginative fiction, each of which re-envisions a key bible story in the form of a contemporary mystery. After years as an academic, Bonnie Thurston resigned as Chair and Professorship in New Testament to live quietly in her home state of West Virginia. She is author or editor of 21 theological works and six collections of poetry and contributes to scholarly and popular periodicals. An internationally known Thomas Merton Scholar, her doctoral dissertation was one of the first on Thomas Merton. Her most recent books are Hidden in God: Discovering the Desert Wisdom of Charles de Foucauld (Ave Maria Press, 2016), All the Fullness of God: The Christ of Colossians (Wifp and Stock, 2017) and From Darkness to Eastering (Wild Goose Press, 2017). Bonnie is an avid reader, gardener, cook, and classical music lover. A week to reflect on Scripture a real treasure! We are given so much to think about and pray over. Plus the setting is friendly and accommodating. Carol Mello, OP Fall River, MA
