To develop an annual calendar of social and special events in Coordination with the Calendar Committee. 2. To plan and oversee certain College social events including Back to School Kick-off, Service Awards lunch, Christmas Party, and others events. Such events may be catered and may be planned by Social Committee members. 3. To provide support to special events hosted by other departments of the College such as Academic Awards, Scholarship Reception, nursing pinning ceremonies, etc. 4. To recommend additional social events for the College. 5. To make recommendations to the President and to distribute those recommendations after they are approved. The committee has been asked to assist with decorating that afternoon at 2:00. Vernon campus can take care of this. Senior Party As of this date we have 5 honorees: Haley Ashlock, Taylor Ballard, Abbey Coufal, T Keeyah Hall, and Kade Robinson. The date will be set soon, should be sometime in May. Graduation & Pinnings Saturday, May 14 th at 10:30, assist with duties of Graduation as deemed appropriate by President, ADN Pinning at 2:00. August 11 th, Surg Tech, LVN Vernon and Century City Pinning Ceremonies, will send information at a later date. Back to School Kick-off Monday, August 15 th, Set up and assist with service. More information to follow. Police Academy Friday, October 7 th, Police Academy Graduation, assist with Reception. October 2011 Century City with Halloween contest and parade; Vernon will have the Halloween Halloween Bash Trick or Treating on campus, may add invitation to community as Fall Festival. Santa Visit December 2011 Christmas Party December 2011, date will be set this summer Chamber Banquet January 2012, decorate a table representing Vernon College The Meeting was called to order at 3:10pm by Vicki Bradley, Chair. Anne Patterson volunteered to serve as Recorder. Discussion: Reviewed all events listed above. Dr. Johnson wants the social Committee to help with and be present at more events. Examples listed on agenda. Upcoming Events: Senior Party, Monday, May 16 th at 6:30 Pizza Party with Soft drinks; Back to School Kick-Off; Set Christmas Party date this summer. Possibilities Discussed: Vicki Bradley suggested we look into offering an Easter Egg hunt next year. Teresa Ramos thinks fundraising for door prizes for the Christmas party would be a good way to get door prizes. Teresa will write a proposal to Dr. Johnson regarding possible fundraising ideas. Entertainment for the Christmas party was also discussed. Adjourned at 3:45pm.
