The Emergency Care Assistant will be expected t act in accrdance with Trust plicies, prcedures, prtcls, ECA Scpe f Practice, Yrkshire Ambulance Service Trust guidelines and current legislatin. T drive a range f vehicles as prvided and directed by the Trust, under emergency driving cnditins as required, in accrdance with Trust plicy, the IHCD Ambulance Driving manual and guidelines and current legislatin Under the directin f a clinically qualified practitiner e.g. Paramedic, Technician, Paramedic Practitiner, Emergency Care Practitiner r Clinical Supervisr, assist and supprt in the prvisin f emergency clinical scene management. Ensure that patient reprt frms (electrnic and paper-based) pertaining t this rle (i.e. fr urgent wrk nly) are cmpleted accrding t Trust plicy/prcedure/prtcls, current legislatin and Caldictt guidelines. Cre Respnsibilities: (cnt) Ensure the safe transfer f patients, t and frm vehicles, fllwing health and safety and ther apprpriate prtcls and prcedures, being mindful f the safety f patients, self, clleagues and thers, using apprpriate equipment and manual handling techniques. Cmmunicate with patients, relatives, clleagues, ther health prfessinals, emergency services and members f the public in a calm, caring and prfessinal manner, treating them with dignity and respect at all times. T ensure that patient cnfidentiality is maintained at all times and that persnal / clinical infrmatin is nly disclsed in accrdance with Trust plicy, prcedure and prtcl and in accrdance with Caldictt regulatins. T undertake a dynamic risk assessment n arrival at the scene f an incident, r t supprt clleagues in this duty, in accrdance with Trust plicy and prfessinal guidelines, having due regard fr the health and safety f self and thers, and t request additinal supprt apprpriate t the circumstances thrugh the Emergency Operatins Centre T use/perate all Trust equipment, facilities, vehicles and premises in an efficient, effective and safe manner, reprting faults in the apprpriate manner T carry ut relevant vehicle and equipment checks at the start f duty, in accrdance with Trust plicy and prcedures, ensuring that the vehicle is prperly kitted, cleaned (paying particular attentin t infectin cntrl) and stcked, faults r missins reprted and all apprpriate recrding prcedures cmpleted. (In exceptinal circumstances, and fr peratinal need these checks culd be delayed but must be perfrmed as sn as practicably pssible). T assist in ensuring the efficient use f medical supplies, maintaining adequate supplies thrughut the shift, ensuring single use items are used accrding t prtcls and ensuring that all clinical waste is dispsed f accrding t Trust plicy and current legislatin. T maintain skills and cmpetencies required by the ECA Scpe f Practice and participate in annual persnal develpment reviews. T undertake all statutry and mandatry training cmmensurate with this rle. T prvide supprt and assistance t clleagues as apprpriate t this rle. T maintain timely cmmunicatins with the Emergency Operatins Centre, using apprpriate means and ensure that the Emergency Operatins Centre is made aware f peratinal availability at all times.t ensure cmpliance with YAS guidelines, plicies, prcedures, prtcls and the ECA Scpe f Practice at all times, ensuring patients receive the highest quality and standard f care and attentin. Be able t respnd as a first respnder t apprpriate incidents within the ECA scpe f practice (FPOS). T reprt any incidences f risk, neglect, abuse r endangerment in accrdance with Trust plicy. Pst hlders must be familiar with the Trust s Infectin Preventin and Cntrl Plicies, including thse that apply t their duties, such as Hand Decntaminatin Plicy, Persnal Prtective Equipment Plicy, safe prcedures fr using aseptic techniques and safe dispsal f sharps. They must undertake mandatry training in Infectin Preventin and Cntrl and be cmpliant with all measures required by the Trust t reduce HCAIs. All pst hlders have a respnsibility t reprt risks such as clinical and nn-clinical accidents r incidents prmptly. They are expected t be familiar with the Trust s use f risk assessments t predict and cntrl risk, as well as the incident reprting system fr learning frm mistakes and near misses in rder t imprve services. Pst hlders must als attend training identified by their manager, r stated by the Trust t be mandatry. All staff are respnsible fr undertaking scene specific r activity specific risk assessments fr nn YAS premises and reprting identified prblems t their line manager fr cnsideratin and reslutin. Pst hlders have a respnsibility fr safeguarding children and vulnerable adults in the curse f their daily duties and fr ensuring that they are aware f the specific duties relating t their rle. The Trust is cmmitted t supprting the develpment f all staff. All emplyees have a respnsibility t participate in regular perfrmance develpment reviews (PDRs) with their manager and t identify perfrmance standards fr the pst. As part f the develpment review prcess emplyees have jint respnsibility with their line manager t identify any learning and develpment needs in rder t meet the agreed perfrmance standards.
