ANCHORAGE CHAPTER Anchorage Chapter Newsletter June 2017 ANCHORAGE CHAPTER BY MICHELE LOGAN Special thanks and shout out to Matt Chen, Regional Manager for all things GLOCK, who came to our May luncheon and supplied most of our door prizes with a bunch of GLOCK goodies including range bags, knives, entrenching tools (shovels) and various and sundry GLOCK swag. But wait there s more! A late arriving case of GLOCK mugs came in. Everyone who attends the June 6 luncheon, our last luncheon before the summer hiatus, gets a GLOCK mug. Our guest speaker for the June 6 luncheon will be Laura Coughlin, a CDC PHAP fellow. Laura will do a presentation on the firearm injuries and fatalities in Alaska for the years 2009-2015 using multiple data sources. On other items of interest for Anchorage Chapter members the ALERRT ERASE statewide was a huge success. Everyone we ve spoken with has had great compliments about the course and the instructors. This just in the Anchorage Chapter is co-sponsoring a training with Dr. Kevin Gilmartin on Emotional Survival for Law Enforcement on June 26 and June 29, 2017 (same class repeated). This class if available to all law enforcement officers of all agencies in the state at no charge. See the announcement elsewhere in this newsletter for details.

The Anchorage Chapter has made some recent contributions to organizations around Anchorage. We donated $1,000 to Anchorage Promise for Kid s Day in April for the Easter Bunny and prizes (photos elsewhere in this newsletter), $3,502.10 the equivalent of one Motorola radio to the Alaska Police and Fire Chaplains ministry, and $9,000 for the 2017-2018 Anchorage Chapter Scholarships, the recipients of which will be notified and announced soon. The Anchorage Chapter Christmas Party will be at the Anchorage Sheraton Hotel and Spa on Saturday, December 16, 2017. I hope to see you at 11:30 AM at the Golden Corral, 4520 Union Square Dr. (Tudor and C Street) in Anchorage for the June 6 luncheon! And last, but not least, have a great summer!
