Guilty or Not Guilty - What s your verdict? HSE v Build-it-Quik UK Limited At St George s Hall Crown Court on Thursday 15th September 2016. This case involves a prosecution of a Principal Designer following an accident in the final stages of a construction project in which a labourer sustains serious crush injuries during the transportation of a large glass door. This mock trial aims to explore the duties of contractors and designers under the Construction, Design and Management Regulations 2015 (CDM) and how those involved may be scrutinised by the authorities if an accident occurs. This WWT mock trial event will be presented by international law firm Pinsent Masons LLP in conjunction with barristers from leading health and safety chambers in London, 2 Hare Court. At the trial, you the audience will play the jury and after listening to the witness evidence and the arguments presented by the prosecution and defence lawyers, you will decide whether the defendant is guilty or not guilty. The event will close with a discussion of the trial and also of the new sentencing guidelines for health and safety offences introduced in February of this year. There will be the opportunity to question the legal team.
