Meeting called to order at 12:04 pm. NOTE: Only 12 voting members of the ExCom were present, falling short of the 14 required for a quorum, so no official actions were taken. Section Officer Reports Section Chair Report John Kerekes for Alex Loui (away on travel) Welcome to everyone, including guest Mark Wilson, an IEEE member from U of R. Reminder that immediately after the September 6 ExCom meeting, one (or possibly two) hydrogen fuel cell car(s) will be available in the parking lot for attendees to inspect. Call for volunteers to man the IEEE Booth at the NY State Fair; volunteers needed for Friday through Monday, September 2-5. See e-mail from Dan Sommers, Vice-Chair of the Syracuse Section for details (more info in attached membership report). Section Vice-Chair Report Bill Fowlkes No report (away on travel). Section Treasurer Report George Sotak Presented the May and June financial reports. No approval vote was taken due to lack of quorum. Section Secretary Report John Kerekes Presented the June minutes. Electromagnetic Compatibility / Product Safety Engineering Joint Chapter Eugene Saltzberg Will have a planning meeting in fall. Electron Devices Sean Rommel Engineering in Medicine and Biology Stephen McAleavey Geoscience and Remote Sensing Jan van Aardt Reported on two successful meetings held in July: - July 14 with presentation by ICESat-2 Science Team leaders from NASA; - July 21 with presentation by scientist from CSIR, South Africa. Student Activities Bill Fowlkes No report (away on travel). Student Branches Alfred University Rochester Institute of Technology Student Branch William Dorney Discussed general plans for the fall. Rochester Institute of Technology Computer Society Student Branch Pueywei Tan No activity during summer. University of Rochester Student Branch Chapter Representative Committee Reports Membership Report Jean Kendrick Provided membership report (see attached). Only 9 speaker mugs are left. Need to decide on whether to reorder mugs, or get a different item. Some suggestions were offered flash drives; mouse pads; laser pens. Awards Report Jean Kendrick for Andy Gallagher Region 1 award application was submitted. Keep in mind the Region 1 PACE Award which has received few applications in the past.
