I Welcome Remarks 1. The President chaired the meeting, welcomed all, declared a quorum was present and proceeded with the meeting. II Confirmation of the minutes of the 89 th Council Meeting held on 20 Nov 2008 2. The minutes of the 89 th Council Meeting held on 20 Nov 2008 were confirmed without amendment. III Report from the President 3. The President had attended a signing ceremony for the collaboration agreement between IVE (Shatin) and the Federation on 17 February. IVE would continue sending their students to participate in Federation events so as to assist in the function rundown and organisation. The Federation had agreed to donate four scholarships of HK$1,000 each to the outstanding students of the Department of Business Administration and Department of Applied Science during the agreement period of 3 years. 4. The Federation Staff Dinner was held on 5 February 2009. 7 Officers and 7 EXCO members joined the secretariat team at the dinner. IV Report from the Hon. Secretary Communication from member societies 5. 10 member societies had submitted updates of their officer bearers. Details had been listed in the News from Members circulated in the meeting. Associate Member Application The Hong Kong Society of Professional Optometrists 6. Proposed by the Hong Kong Physiotherapy Association Ltd and seconded by the Hong Kong Occupational Therapy Association, the Hong Kong Society of Professional Optometrists submitted an application as an associate member. 7. The application was tabled for discussion. Proposed by Dr Godfrey Chan and seconded by Dr Man Chi Wai, the application was accepted as the Associate Member of the Federation. V Report from the Hon. Treasurer 8. The Income and Expenditure Statement for the period from 1 April 2008 to 31 January 2009 and the Balance Sheet positioned as at 31 January 2009 were tabled to all Council Members for reference. Page 4 of 7

9. The meeting noted the financial position for the period ending 31 January 2009 as follows: Year to date revenue was HK$2,653,619.23 Year to date expense was HK$2,128,859.33 Year to date surplus was HK$524,759.90 Net assets as at 31 January 2009 were HK$2,626,345.95 VI Reports from various Committees 1. Administrative Committee Renovation of the Office Premises 10. The secretariat was checking for additional quotations from a new contractor and revised quotations from previous contractors. 11. According to contractors who had submitted a quotation a few months ago, the cost of building materials did not drop much despite the financial downturn. Yet, they would review the quotation again to see if there was any room for discount. Replacement of AV System at Lecture Hall 12. The AV System at the Lecture Hall would be replaced with a Panasonic Infrared Wireless Microphone System. The replacement would cost around $19,000. 2. Publicity & Publications Committee Medical Diary 13. The income & expenditure reports were tabled at the meeting. 14. Members noted the net profit accumulated from January 2009 to March 2009 was HK$19,200. 3. Education Committee ASM 2009 15. Dr. James Chim raised the concerns of holding the ASM. Both HKU and CUHK would have medical forums in summer time, therefore the tentative schedule for ours to be held in June/July might be too packed. An international meeting on Atherosclerosis was only held in Aug 2008, there would not be much update in less than a year s time, thus the proposed topic on Atherosclerosis would not attract much audience. Sponsorship would be difficult this year. Page 5 of 7

Dr. Chim suggested not to organise the ASM this year and focus on organising certificate course. 16. Members shared the views of Dr. Chim and agreed to hold up the ASM this year. Yet, should an opportunity come up, or a better topic come up later in the year, the ASM could still be held. 4. External Affairs Committee 17. At the annual dinner, the President mentioned to Prof Raymond Liang our desire to meet with the new Dean of Medicine of HKU. A lunch meeting was thus arranged for Prof Liang and Prof Lee Sum Ping to meet with a few of our EXCO members on 20 February. 5. Finance Committee 18. The report summarizing the stock holdings status was tabled at the meeting. Members noted the value of the profile as at 31 January 2009 was HK$437,157. 6. Member Services Committee Social Committee Soccer 5 Tournament 19. The 2008 Tournament concluded on 30 November and the winning teams were: Champion Janssen Pharmaceutica 1 st runner-up Pfizer Corporation Hong Kong Ltd 2 nd runner-up Hong Kong Occupational Therapy Association 20. There was a photo competition this year, out of the 20 entries received, the winners were: Winner Dr Chan Hoi Yee 1 st runner-up Mr. Jacky Ting 2 nd runner-up Dr Sung Wing Kuen 3 rd runner-up Dr. Pong Chiu Fai 21. A surplus of $5,276.40 was recorded for the event. Annual Dinner 22. Around 200 guests participated at the event. A deficit of $4,952.70 was recorded for the event. VII Any Other Business Membership with Hong Kong Council of Volunteering Page 6 of 7

23. We received an invitation from HKCOV to join their council to help promote volunteering within the medical profession. Their current members were professional bodies with lawyers, accountants, architects, etc as their members. 24. As the Federation represented a collective number of medical societies, it deemed not appropriate to take up the membership. Further, Hong Kong Medical Association and Hong Kong Dental Association were already members of the council, the message of volunteering would have reached the medical profession. 25. Members suggested to offer our support to them by disseminating their messages pertaining to our member societies. Membership with Hong Kong Museum of Medical Sciences Society 26. We received an invitation from our member society HKMMS to join them as their Corporate Member. Same with HKCOV, it deemed not appropriate for the Federation to take up the membership as we represented a collective number of medical societies. Nonetheless, we could assist them in disseminating any messages to our member societies. Involvement in PRC 60 th anniversary celebration organized by AHKHP 27. Every year, The Hong Kong Health Services Sector National Day Celebration Committee organized a dinner function to celebrate the National Day. This year they would like doctors in the medical field to join with the committee to celebrate the 60 th anniversary of the PRC, thus they have invited the Federation to join the organising committee. 28. Members agreed that the Federation could get involved in the scientific activities such as to assist in organising the symposiums. Members also asked that if we were to get involved, the Federation s name be listed under the Consultant list rather than the Chairmen list. 29. There being no other business, the meeting was adjourned at 8.05 pm. VIII Date and Venue of Next Meeting 30. The Next meeting would be held on 21 May 2009 at 8:00pm in the Council Chamber of the Federation. Dr. Dawson Fong Dr. Chan Sai Kwing President Hon. Secretary 21 May 2009 21 May 2009 Page 7 of 7
