1 Competitive calls for projects KAVA call per year one in October 2017 for different type of projects(kavas): 1. Upscaling 2. Education 3. Regional Innovation Schemes (RIS) and Internationalization Projects are initiated and coordinated by EIT RawMaterials Partners R&D Project consortium: minimum of 3 Partners from at least 2 countries and representing 2 sides of knowledge triangle Consortia open to Task Partners (not regular members of EIT RawMaterials community) contributing either with a part of the solution or as a market representative, with funding limited to 60 k /y Success rate last year: 30% Upscaling 50% Education 75% RIS/INTER EIT (KAVAs) / non EIT (KCAs) ratio: 25 75% for upscaling; 50 50% for the others Funding rate for KAVAs: 90% for upscaling; 100% for the others
Upscaling projects Innovation projects based on validated technologies that may be accelerated toward the market Additional step(s) for up scaling, demonstration or implementation > FROM TRL 5 TO TRL 7 Market introduction and/or a commercial use within 3 years (or less) after the end of project. Aim to have an educational component, for example, including PhD and/or Masters projects, internships, contribution to courses, etc Proposals for Upscaling projects should demonstrate financial and non financial backflows to the KIC, as well as contribute to specific KPIs of the KIC Bottom up approach in the 6 themes Relevance for the KIC / Raw Material sector Size: large size (total budget of 2 5 million) medium size (total budget of 1 2 million) small (total budget below 1 million)

4 Internationalization & RIS EIT Raw Materials overall objective is to increase the number of strategic partners outside Europe. Co operation of Latin America organisations with EIT Raw Materials may start acting as TASK PARTNER in projects involving official EIT RM s Partners (the Call 2018 is now open with a deadline for submission at end of February). Objectives Liase with stake holders in the global value chain involved in the supply of CRM for EU; Create export partners networks in non EU countries; Develop and access to the pool of global talent; Find opportunities to close material loops across the value chain at global level. Outcomes At least 3 strategic alliances with local governmental organisations; At least 3 export partners secured; At least 3 alliances with non EU universities; At least 5 leads opportunities.
