How the Food Bank Works We acquire food from the community. With the help of volunteers, we inspect, sort and store the food. We also produce hot meals for kids. We distribute the food to more than 600 partner agencies. Together, we greatly impact the lives of our neighbors in need.

About Houston Food Bank The Houston Food Bank feeds 800,000 people each year by distributing food through 600 hunger relief agencies in 18 southeast Texas counties. What We Do From our 308,000 sq. ft. warehouse, our fleet of trucks delivers food to most of our hunger relief agencies, while the rest come to us to pick up. We serve: Church and community food pantries Soup kitchens Shelters for the homeless and abused Meal sites for children and the elderly Service Area Thanks to strong community partnerships, the Food Bank stretches every $1 donation to provide a full day of meals for children, adults, or seniors.

Sponsorships Become a Corporate Partner of the Houston Food Bank Consider sponsoring a program or event. We will work with your company to meet its goals as a sponsor and find the best fit between our mission and your business objectives. Some opportunities include: Programs Child Hunger: Programs include: Backpack Buddy: Nutritious kid-friendly food for the weekend for at-risk children in schools grade K-12, as well as at summer meal program sites. Kids Cafe: Healthy meals and snacks served year-round on weekdays to kids in after school and summer meal programs throughout the Houston area. Equipment: Vehicles, warehouse equipment, and other large scale items needed to accomplish our mission. Food for Change: Strategic distribution of food that serves as a catalyst to motivate client participation in partner social service programs with measurable outcomes. Mobile Outreach: Food distribution that brings 20,000 lbs. of food including fresh fruits and vegetables to communities in need. Nutrition Education: Classes in nutrition, food safety, meal preparation, and budgeting taught in collaboration with Food Bank partner agencies. Produce: Fresh fruits and vegetables for children, families, and seniors. Events* Chefs Dinner: Five-course dinner with a wine pairing featuring five of Houston s top chefs. f.r.e.s.h. young professionals: Action-oriented service group that is motivated to bring awareness to the issue of hunger through fundraising, advocacy, social, and volunteer efforts. Taste of the Texans: Culinary tasting event at NRG Stadium featuring Houston restaurants alongside Houston Texans players. * Event-specific benefits available. Corporate benefits do not apply.

Volunteerism Use your corporate power for community good. Time is a gift to hungry kids, seniors, and others who may not have enough to eat. Volunteers produce the equivalent of a meal a minute while helping the Houston Food Bank sort, process, and pack food. And it s fun! Benefits include the opportunity for on-air recognition, on-site volunteer presence, and more. Food from the Bar A month-long competition where Houston s legal community earns points by donating food, funds, and volunteer time.
