Her commitment to her clients and colleagues was clearly evident in her work throughout fourteen years with Family Service Association. Sadly, Maureen passed away earlier this year. But it s with great pride and gratitude that we dedicate the 2016 edition of the Annual Report to her memory. ANNUAL REPORT 2016 A message from our Board Chairman and President The word quality has a special significance for all of us at Family Service Association. It symbolizes our best efforts to provide our community s families each day with programs and services that address their needs in the most professional and meaningful way. Quality is not only important, but central to our long-standing mission and approach to service delivery. That s why at FSA, we constantly examine our policies, practices and internal systems, while at the same time striving to improve upon our past successes and achievements. One significant way in which we pursue that important goal is through our affiliation with the Council on Accreditation, an international organization that partners with human service providers to establish and promote the highest standards of quality and performance. As is our practice every four years, we at Family Service Association are once again immersed in preparations for reaccreditation. It s a vigorous process that will ultimately help to ensure that our community receives the quality of service from our agency that it so richly deserves. By continually refining our programs and measuring their impact utilizing best practice standards, we raise the bar and ultimately become a better agency. The great entrepreneur and inventor Steve Jobs said that the best organizations are those that serve as a yardstick of quality. At Family Service Association, we accept the challenge to provide quality services and to measure outcomes to better guarantee their effectiveness. It s a job we could never accomplish without the commitment, dedication, and talents of our agency s staff. They are the social workers, nurses, administrators, program leaders, and support staff the persons from every program and department who help to guarantee the quality of our agency s services. They are the vital component parts that make up the DNA of Family Service Association. Whether caring for the community s children in our day care programs, providing home visits to our most frail and vulnerable elders, or showing compassion and support to those dealing with depression, anxiety or other behavioral health crisis, the FSA staff always answers the call. We wish to express gratitude to everyone within our FSA family our staff, Board of Directors, and community partners for the support they have given our agency throughout this and every year. Furthermore, we reaffirm our commitment to the tradition of providing quality service to the community. In early 2016, Family Service Association was proud to have WORD Child Development Center join our family of high quality programs. Since 1983, WORD (Women s Occupational Resources Development) has provided comprehensive services for infants, toddlers, and preschoolers, ages 4 weeks to 5 years. The program offers a total learning environment that supports personal development and enables the potential of the whole child in a nurturing, inclusive setting. WORD is licensed under the MA Department of Early Education and Care and accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children.
