Dear Christian Leadership Conference Applicant, Thank you for your interest in applying for a YMCA Christian Leadership Conference Grant. A separate application needs to be submitted for each CLC (i.e. fall and spring). All potential CLC Directors must have attended at least one CLC in the previous year, and attended a CLC Directors Training prior to submitting an application. Please refer to the CLC Manual for other conference guidelines. Applications are to be submitted by November 1. Anything received after that date will be considered in the next year. All items need to be e-mailed to terra.lynn.dearth@lbymca.org. The Letter of Intent must be signed, scanned and included with the application packet when emailing. YMCA Christian Leadership Conferences Application Application Guidelines An application to the C. J., Carrie D., and R. Howard Walker Foundation must be completed thoroughly. There are important considerations concerning your organization, project impact and timetable which you should review carefully in determining when to submit an application to the Foundation. These factors, in turn, must be considered in conjunction with the Foundation's review schedule. Application Procedures A complete application must include the following information: 1. Letter of intent. Signed by yourself and your YMCA s CEO, President or Executive Director. 2. Narrative Statement. All proposals should be typed into a comprehensive document that contains the following basic elements: A. Organizational Information Sponsoring YMCA information: - How does this YMCA currently put Christian emphasis into the programs? - How does this YMCA put Christian emphasis into the employment process? - Description of the services provided and people served by this YMCA. - What is this YMCA s mission statement and where would it be found at the YMCA? Key people already committed to implementing this project: - Who will take the lead, plan and implement the CLC or project. - Is this person a YMCA Ragger? If so, what color are they? - What role will the sponsoring YMCA President / CEO and Executive Director play? - List of confirmed and targeted planning committee members including their name, state, YMCA. Describe the support base that has been put into place already for this event. - Is this a first year for this request or has this CLC or project been directed by the same person, sponsored by the same YMCA and held at the same site for a number of years? - If the latter, what changes will there be this year? - Have the Site, Camp or Executive Director attended a Christian Leadership Conference? - Have the Site, Camp or Executive Directors attended YMCA Christian Emphasis events? The Foundation is more inclined to support those projects where the 3
key leadership has attended these events. - Does the sponsoring YMCA or site have a YMCA Rag/Leather Program? If so, for how long has it been in place? Is it the traditional program or a variation thereof? B. CLC Information Description of the CLC and its expected impact on YMCA s. - What are the goals and objectives of your CLC? i.e. goal - teach people how to use a bible. Objective have one hour sessions at CLC with a minimum of 50% of the conference attendance attend the Bible Basics session. The session will use a bible and a minimum of two handouts for each participant. - Address how the recreational time meets the goals of the CLC. - Address the specific ways the Christian emphasis will be further strengthened at The Y as a result of your CLC. - What specific things will be done to glorify God and witness to Christ s teachings through the process of and during the CLC? - How will you measure the impact of this CLC? - YMCA target population including ages and positions of people, geographical area to be solicited. This needs to include names of YMCA's and camps that will be served and affected. (How will this information be captured, to assess if you hit your goals?) This event is not available to outside groups. - What is your marketing strategy? - Number of anticipated participants. Include anticipated number of first time attendees. How will this information be captured? - Number of people to be impacted by this CLC. Explain how you reached this number. - If applicable, what theme has your planning committee chosen? - If applicable, list the names of proposed speakers and their proposed session topics. Mark the ones that are confirmed. - If applicable, attach the proposed conference agenda. Make sure to note activities in non-session times. - Using no more than 250 words describe what will be the unique result of your CLC. - Attach your first planning meeting s agenda. C. Budget Information - What financial and other type of support has been obtained for this CLC? - Name sources, amounts and types of support. Be sure and list the donated items as well. Include the organization s contact information. - If the Foundation does not fund this CLC will it still occur? Where will the funding come from? - Complete the attached budget form as it is. Itemize all on the budget form. Be sure to include the donated items. The Foundation is inclined to fund projects where there are other support sources. Do not expect 100% funding from the Foundation. 4

Notification of response to proposal will be sent within 60 days.
