Individual/organisation responsible for delivering project (project manager) (name, address, e-mail and telephone number). 5. What do you intend to do? Please limit this to the project manager details. Provide a statement which focuses on outlining what your project will do rather than describing your organisation. Who Who are you going to help and how many? Will the Armed Forces Community benefit no matter where they live? What - What are you going to do to support them? For example provide a motivational programme which will help xxxx number of veterans transition into civilian life Where Where is your project physically located? Is it in more than one location? Is it UK wide, regional or local? Will When Over what period of time will the funds be used? Is it a short term project (maybe to purchase equipment to support a long term plan), a pilot or something you expect to run for a long time? Objectives What are your core objectives? Will it expand an already existing service to provide help to a larger group or support an additional group with in the Armed Forces Community such as families? Other areas the panel are interested in knowing: What experience you have working in this area? For example if you plan a project relating to mental health we need to know you are experienced and use approved methods. Are you working with a partner organisation? Is your project filing a perceived gap in or complimenting an existing service? 6. How does this contribute to overall aims of the Armed Explain how your project meets the aims of the Armed Forces Convenant. 3
Forces Covenant? 7. Who will benefit from this project and how? Describe which members of the Armed Forces Community will benefit Serving Personnel, Reserves, Veterans or Families. What issues does the group you are targeting have for example wounded, mental health, employment problems? How many people will benefit? its appreciated that definitive figures may not be available but some indication of the number of people who are likely to benefit is useful to help the panel reach a conclusion on value for money. Do you have evidence of a need for this project? The panel needs to know that there are people who need and will use your service especially if your project is new. What will be the outcomes for the beneficiaries? 8. Do you intend to work with other organisations (if so who)? 9. What is your projected timetable for the project? Please include start and end date for the project and major milestones. If you have already started working with or have support from other organisations experienced in the area you plan to work in who are they? If your work relies on referrals from another organisation or charity such as Combat Stress have you already engaged with them? The panel needs to see that you have thought through your timelines. For example if you need to recruit staff before the main project starts we need to know how long that will take. If you are running courses tell us when they will be held, how many people you expect to attend. 10. Measuring Success Where possible the panel needs to know what your baseline is. This could be as simple as you are currently able to support 40 people a year but with the extra funding you can help 100. The panel would expect to see the tangible benefits of your project here which can be measured to assess whether the project succeeds in its aims. Feedback from the people you helped could help you demonstrate that your work has had a positive effect. Think about what your service is going to help people do and how you will prove that you have achieved your aims? For example if you are providing training to help people set up businesses how many go on to operate a business? How many are still running after 6, 12, 18 months? If your project involves clinical support such as mental health related areas how will you evaluate the clinical outcomes as well as any other benefits you anticipates such as leading to employment, improved family life etc. 11. How will the project be sustained once Libor Funding has ceased? How will you continue to support your project? If purchasing new equipment/upgrading facilities/new builds how will you fund long term maintenance? You should not rely on approaching the MOD for additional funding. 4
12. Please provide a breakdown of costs? To help the panel make a judgement based on value for money you need to provide a detailed breakdown of costs. This can be provided as a separate annex. You should include the cost of staff (including number of staff, role and salaries), training, facilities, travel etc where applicable. Match Funding Provide details of match funding you will receive including where this is use of facilities or staff. You must be clear where money is going to be spent. The panel will not commit funds without a clear idea of what they are going to be used for. If you have a quote for a service being provided to you for example a new build or play park please provide a copy. A clear breakdown of the different aspects of the project will allow the panel to reach a decision faster and where there is some doubt as to providing all of the requested funding will allow the panel to quickly assess and inform you which aspects of the project they are happy to fund. 13. Have you applied for or received other grants or financial support from other government departments, Local Authorities, charities or elsewhere to fund or partially fund the activities proposed in this business case? If yes, please give details. Provide details of any other grants/financial support applied for or received. 14. Does your proposal require planning permission? If so, has this been sought and agreed?
