IOT occupy this range unit must have the following personnel/equipment: RSO Corpsman & Safety Vehicle Positive Communication with LONGRIFLE If ammunition is present on range - Ammo Guards will be armed. 3. IOT go into a hot status on range unit must have the following personnel/equipment: OIC RSO Corpsman & Safety Vehicle Positive Communication with LONGRIFLE 4. RSO will verify the left and right lateral limits utilizing a compass and map. Overall range lateral limits will be identified. Each firing position lateral limits will be identified. 5. The RSO & OIC will personally observe each live fire event. 6. A signed ORM must be on hand IOT conduct training. 7. A non-participating Corpsman will be stationed with safety vehicle. 8. A full rehearsal will be conducted prior to live fire. 9. Unit is required mark/post signs for any lateral limits and/or MSLs listed in this brief if not already marked/posted. 10. Minimum engagement distances for RETS or PITS targets is as follows: 25 meters 5.56mm 100 meters 7.62mm and above Use of.50 Caliber and above weapons on PITS targets is not authorized. Use of.50 Caliber and below (Ball or 4+1 Only) on RETS ranges is authorized. Use of.50 Caliber RAFUS (A606) on RETS ranges is only authorized on vehicle targets. Targets will not be exposed for a period longer than 30 seconds. At no time will any unit go from live fire to blank or SESAMS force-on-force within a 24 hour period 11. At any time Range guards are required, they will be posted in pairs with positive communication with the RSO. 12. Ammunition will only be issued per event and accounted for on NAVMC 11381. 13. After each event, unit leaders will conduct a line out. 14. Each RSO will certify to the OIC that all weapons are in Condition 4 prior to exiting the range and all ammunition is accounted for. 15. Helmets and flak jackets shall be worn for the following live fire training events: Live fire and movement/maneuver. High explosives or grenades. Machineguns. Close Quarters Battle in shoot houses. 16. Ensure all weapons are cleared and inspected prior to departing the firing line. 17. All weapon malfunctions shall be corrected per the appropriate TM/FM, and unit SOP. 18. Weapons cleaning gear is hazardous waste, and shall not be not placed in the trash. The items should be collected and returned to their HazMat representative, or to their local Armory for proper disposal. Unit/Area representatives are below. RANGE AND TRAINING REGULATIONS SPECIAL INSTRUCTIONS 1. The using unit is responsible for policing and leveling of road surface when disturbed by vehicles. 2. Shooting on the move in vehicles is only authorized for vehicles that have a stabilization system. Stabilized Vehicles shall not exceed 10 mph while firing. 3. Free -gunning is NOT allowed on this range. 4. No vehicles are allowed on fixed firing point and target berms. 5..50 Caliber rifles & machine guns will only fire from the left berm. 6..50 cal rifles & machine guns shall only engage targets to the left of the.50 cal RLL marker. 7. A606 is only authorized for use on vehicle targets. 8. For all EMP training; a. All EMP targets must be of softwood uprights, cardboard backing paper or cardboard targets. b. Any metal bases used must be soft metal. 9. All MG BZO and 10/12.5 meter qualifications: a. No metal supports or targets are permitted on this range. Any engineer stakes used for pallets must be placed on the outside edges of the pallets. There will be additional safety personnel assigned as follows: 1. A PSO will travel in trace of each Team. 2. Each PSO will have positive communication with the RSO. Ammunition will only be issued per event. After each event, unit leaders will conduct a line out. Each PSO & the RSO will certify to the OIC that all weapons are in Condition 4 prior to exiting the range.

Additional Safety Measures for Mounted Attack A safety Brief will conducted prior to each live fire event to all participants. At no time will anyone climb on top of a target berm. Targets will not be engaged any closer than 25 meters. All targets utilized must be Knock Down Stay Down type targets. Marines in maneuver element will go to: 4. Condition 3 at the AA. 5. Condition 1 at the Race Track 6. Condition 4 at the LD Marines with the SBF will only upload and down load weapons at the SBF Position. All SBF Wpns will go to condition 4 prior to anyone crossing the min safe line. The RSO & OIC will personally observe each live fire event. There will be additional safety personnel assigned as follows: 3. A PSO will travel in trace of each Squad. 4. An ARSO will be assigned to each SBF position. 5. Each PSO and ARSO will have positive communication with the RSO. Ammunition will only be issued per event. After each event, unit leaders will conduct a line out. Each RSO will certify to the OIC that all weapons are in Condition 4 prior to exiting the range. A non-participating Corpsman will be stationed with an ambulance. A full rehearsal will be conducted prior to live fire. Signed ORM must be on hand IOT conduct training.

RANGE AND TRAINING REGULATIONS TOW Firing Procedures Concept All fires will be cleared by RSO prior to engagements. At no time will any Marine climb on top of any target berm. ALL wire must be recovered. A safety Brief will conducted prior to each live fire event to all participants. Before firing any TOW missile, the entire SDZ will be cleared of all non-mission-essential personnel. Only those personnel actively engaged in firing and controlling TOW missiles as specified in appropriate FMs and TMs will be permitted in the SDZ. Missionessential personnel directly associated with but not actively engaged in the firing of TOW missiles may be located at protected sites within Area H, such as behind earthen berms. Personnel will neither stand nor permit any part of their body to be directly behind or in front of the TOW launcher while a missile is in the launch tube. All missiles will be tested using the missile test set as part of the overall system pre-fire checks. Control Measures R223B Firing Line: 62020 92482 to 62118 92438 R223B lateral Limits: LLL 015 degrees mag (028 grid) RLL 029 degrees mag (042 grid) TOW (SOUM 1-04) SOUM 1-04 provides guidance and direction for units wishing to conduct training TOW Missiles (PB93, PB97, PB99, PD62, PU68 & WF10) Use of TOW Protective Blanket is required for all missile firings except LAV-AT. The OIC shall ensure that the RSO is familiar with SOUM 1-04. Bounding Patrolling Cold to Hot Positions Vehicles will be staged at grid 6174 9163 behind a covered area where begin bounding to grid 61977 92277. Once they have reached grid 61977 92277 they can begin the patrolling exercise to the hot position Vehicles will be staged at grid 61977 92277 behind a covered area where they will load and begin patrolling. The missile will not be armed until the vehicle is static in the firing line. Marines can initiate a patrolling formation around the vehicle. All weapons will be in Condition 3. Type of formation will be decided according to the given scenario. Vehicles will be staged at grid 61977 92277 behind a covered area where we will be loading the missile. The vehicles will move from the cold position to the hot position. The missile will not be armed until the vehicle is static in the firing line.
