37 th MODERN DAY MARINE MILITARY EXPO SET FOR QUANTICO, VIRGINIA, SEPTEMBER 19-21 MCB Quantico, VA The 37 th anniversary of the world s largest military exposition focused on enhancing expeditionary force capabilities will be presented at Marine Corps Installations National Capital Region - (MCINCR-MCBQ), Virginia, September 19-21. This year marks the 25 th consecutive year the show has staged at MCBQ, and the 12 th year at Lejeune Field, the main parade deck on base. The (MDMME) is proud to be the largest multiday annual event taking place aboard historic MCBQ, known as the Crossroads of the Corps, especially on this 100 th Anniversary of the founding of the Corps most iconic installation. A recent, exciting addition to the schedule, taking place in the briefing center on Wednesday, Sept. 20, 10 a.m. is a presentation by the Commandant of the Marine Corps Gen. Robert B. Neller, to introduce the new Navy and Marine Corps operating concept: Littoral Operations in a Contested Environment (LOCE)". The expo is sponsored by the Marine Corps League and hosted by MCINCR- MCBQ. The League is a 70,000-member strong Marine Corps veteran s organization. Personnel from Marine Corps Combat Development Command (MCCDC)/Combat Development & Integration (CD&I), Marine Corps Systems Command (MCSC) and the Marine Corps Warfighting Lab (MCWL) will be present to meet with industry representatives.

MCSC is once again hosting several Planning Briefs to Industry on Tuesday, Sept. 19, 10 a.m. 3 p.m., at the Briefing Center. Following opening remarks by MCSC Commander Brig, Gen. Joseph Shrader, portfolio managers for each functional area will brief industry on the current status of their programs and the opportunities that might exist in the future. PEO-Land Systems, the Joint Non-Lethal Weapons Directorate (JNLWD), and the MCSC Office of Small Business Programs will also provide briefings at this event. Following each planning brief, industry representatives who did not sign-up for one-on-one meetings with portfolio managers on the MDMME website in advance, will be given the opportunity make arrangements for one-on-one meetings over the course of the remaining days at the expo. A new and groundbreaking initiative to explore the future of expeditionary warfare in the littoral environment will take place over the final two days of the expo - Wednesday, Sept. 20 and Thursday, Sept. 21, in the form of a panel discussion series organized by the Deputy Commandant for Combat Development and Integration (DC CD&I), and cosponsored by the Marine Corps League and the Marine Corps Association & Foundation. The series of panels is entitled Is the Marine Corps Prepared for The Next Generation of Warfare? Panel 1: Challenges to the Future Operating Environment takes place on Wednesday, Sept. 20, 10:30 a.m. 12 p.m., and will be moderated by Lt. Col. Mark C. Smydra, Marine Corps Intelligence

Activity. Panelists will include: Dr. David L. Knoll, Center for Naval Analyses; Brig. Gen. Dimitri Henry, Director of Intelligence; Mr. Phil Chudoba, Assistant Director of Intelligence; Mr. Dave Ochmanek, RAND and a Senior United Kingdom Intelligence Officer. Panel 2: Littoral Operations Challenges and Opportunities takes place on Wednesday, Sept. 20, 1 2:30 pm, and will be moderated by Mr. John Berry, Director, Concepts Branch, MCWL. Panelists will include: retired Navy Cmdr Philip E. Pournelle; Capt. Bryan M. Cochran, U. S. Navy, Director, Concepts, Strategy and Wargames, Navy Expeditionary Combat Command; Col. John B. Panelists will include: Lt. Col. Kevin Reilly, Science and Technology; Lt. Col. Daniel A. Schmitt, Experimentation Division; Maj. Justin P. Gogel, Regional Contracting Office, and Mr. Art Corbett, Expeditionary Advanced Base. Panel 4: Requirements for the Marine Corps to Address Next Generation Warfare takes place

on Thursday, Sept. 21, 1 2:30 p.m., and will be moderated by Lt. Gen. Robert S. Walsh, U. S. Marine Corps, Deputy Commandant CD&I. Panelists will include: Lt. Gen. Daniel J. O Donohue, U.S. Marine Corps, Deputy Commandant for Information; Maj. Gen. Vincent A. Coglianese, U.S. Marine Corps, representing Installations and Logistics; Maj. Gen. Edward D. Banta, U. S. Marine Corps, representing Programs & Resources; Brig. Gen. Dennis A. Crall, U. S. Marine Corps, Director C4. One of the exposition s most popular events is the Enlisted Awards Parade. This year, the parade will begin on Wednesday, Sept. 20 at 9 a.m. The colorful ceremony features the presentation of awards for superior service to enlisted Marines and Sailors from Marine Corps units around the world. The awards are sponsored by the Capital Marines Detachment of the Marine Corps League. Because of the large number of visitors who attend the parade, car-pooling is encouraged to reduce traffic congestion at the center of the base. Both the Commandant of the Marine Corps and the Sergeant Major of the Marine Corps will be the reviewing officials. On September 20, the s Grand Banquet and Awards Dinner will be held at the Ritz-Carlton Hotel in the Crystal City section of Arlington, VA. During the Awards Dinner, the Commandant of the Marine Corps will present the Marine Corps League s top awards the Military Order of the Iron Mike and the Dickey Chapelle Award to two distinguished Americans for outstanding service to the nation, and to the Marine Corps in particular. The Iron Mike is

named for a statue at the Marine Corps Recruit Depot, Parris Island, SC, famous among Marines as a symbol of service, sacrifice and valor. The Dickey Chapelle Award is named for a female war correspondent who covered the Marines across several wars and who was killed on a combat patrol with Marines in Vietnam. This year s Dickey Chappelle and Iron Mike award winners are Congresswoman Susan Davis, of California s 53rd congressional district, and Mr. Bob Simmons, former Staff Director of the House Armed Services Committee, now with the Boeing Corporation. The 2017 expo will draw not only U.S. Marine Corps military and civilian personnel but also members of the other U.S. services, foreign military attaches, and corporate representatives from throughout the United States and several allied nations. News media representatives desiring to cover any portion of the exposition must have their press credentials upon arrival at the exposition site. Due to heightened security, all attendees are required to have picture identification when entering MCBQ. Uniformed Marines may enter exhibit halls without a special registration badge. All other attendees and industry representatives must register on site and obtain a registration badge during registration hours. Exhibit areas will open at 10 a.m. each day. The areas will close at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday, 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday and 3 p.m. on Thursday. Additional information on the exposition is available at www.marinemilitaryexpos.com -30-
