HEALTH AND SAFETY POLICY STATEMENT Alterego Construction & Interiors (Consultancy) Limited s policy is to provide and maintain a safe working environment for all employees in accordance with requirements of the Health and Safety at Works Etc Act 1974. To meet this policy the company objectives are: 1. To make proper provision for the Health and Safety at work of all employees. 2. To comply with all legal requirements. 3. To set up procedures to ensure proper implementation of all policy requirements including disciplinary action for non-compliance. 4. To eliminate all hazards to others who may be affected by the work activity. 5. To provide information, instruction and facilities for training to all employees to ensure compliance with safety policy requirements. 6. To communicate to all employees this Policy and ensure it is understood. 7. It is recognised that safety procedures can only be implemented with the full cooperation of all staff members. This policy will be reviewed annually and any changes in legislation or working practices within the company will be taken into consideration. Signed... Date 6 January 2014. HEALTH AND SAFETY RESPONSIBILITES Overall Strategy 1. Health and Safety Strategy and Procedure The Directors of Alterego Construction & Interiors (Consultancy) Ltd have overall responsibility for assessing the strategic objectives and procedural policy to implement all matters relating to Health and Safety. 2. Implementation of Procedures and Monitoring Health and Safety matters Derek A Bolton with assistance from David Lawson will have responsibility for implementation and monitoring of all Health and Safety matters set out by the Directors. The Director with responsibility for Health and Safety, namely Derek A Bolton
HEALTH AND SAFETY RESPONBILITIES Individual Directors 1. Must ensure that procedures are being implemented. 2. Must ensure that all employees are aware of the procedures and their responsibilities. 3. Must monitor and review procedures on a regular basis. 4. Must record any accidents, investigate as necessary and report to the Company Director responsible for Health and Safety. 5. Must ensure that all statutory records are kept up to date. 6. Must ensure that all equipment is safe and checked by competent specialists. 7. Must ensure that training is given where required and that all employees are encouraged to attend relevant training courses. 8. Must ensure that all employees comply with Health and Safety matters when working on site and are aware of their responsibilities with regard to site safety and protective clothing. Internal seminars will be held and external conferences can be attended as deemed appropriate regarding Health and Safety both in the work place and on site. 9. Must ensure that all Health and Safety matters are continuously monitored by Directors. 10. To ensure that all employees are aware of the Health and Safety implications of the Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2007. 11. To ensure that this Health and Safety Policy is included in the firms Induction Manual and Quality Management System. 12. Must set a good example to all employees when visiting site by following firm procedures and wearing protective clothing.
HEALTH AND SAFETY RESPONSIBILITES Employees 1. Have a duty to themselves and their colleagues to work in a safe manner. 2. Must help to prevent accidents. 3. Must report Health and Safety matters and unsafe procedures to a Director. 4. Must comply with all safety procedures when visiting sites including the use of protective clothing and be aware of the requirements of the CDM Regulations. 5. Must assist the company in implementing Health and Safety procedures. 6. Must not engage in any horseplay or cause any damage to office equipment, fixtures or fittings.
HEALTH AND SAFETY RESPONSIBILITES Office Procedures 1. Rules and procedures for Health and Safety must be located in the office. 2. All fire extinguishers must be prominently located. 3. All fire exits must be properly signposted. 4. All fire exit doors, corridors etc. must be kept clear of all obstructions. 5. The fire alarm must be tested on a regular weekly basis. 6. The fire evacuation procedure must be prominently displayed in accordance with the example included as an Appendix to this Policy Document. 7. First Aid boxes must be kept in a convenient location and regularly checked and refilled as necessary. The appointed nominated person is DEREK A BOLTON 8. Cleaning should be carried out on a daily basis to ensure that there is no build up of materials, which may cause a Health and Safety hazard. 9. All equipment including photocopiers, computers and facsimile machines should be checked and maintained on a regular basis in accordance with manufacturer s recommendations / service agreements. 10. To ensure safe working conditions all windows must be cleaned internally and externally, as designed, from the inside of the building or in a safe manner from ladders. 11. All necessary discovered faults to electrical, mechanical, plumbing installations must be reported to a Director for repair by competent specialists. 12. To ensure that all Health and Safety procedures are complied with all visitors should report to reception and their names should be entered into the visitor s book, which should be checked by a Director in the event of an emergency evacuation. 13. It is a priority that all tools and equipment must be cleaned after use and properly stored. No rubbish or discarded material should be left lying. Rubbish bins are available and must be used. No working areas should be left in an unhygienic condition. Good housekeeping is an essential feature of this Health and Safety Policy.
Individual Office Procedures (Con t) 14. No smoking is allowed in any areas. 15. No unlawful drugs may be brought into or consumed on the premises. Any violation will be subject to disciplinary procedures. 16. Alcoholic liquor will only be allowed on the premises with the prior approval of the Directors. 17. Office equipment and all fixtures and fittings must not be misused by employees. Any violation will be subject to disciplinary procedures.

FIRE INSTRUCTION AND DRILL FIRE ACTION IF YOU DISCOVER A FIRE 1. Immediately operate nearest alarm call point. 2. Attack fire, if possible, with appliance provided but without taking personal risks. ON HEARING ALARM OF FIRE 3. The RECEPTIONIST will call the Fire Brigade immediately by EXCHANGE TELEPHONE. (a) Lift receiver and dial 999. (b) Give operator your telephone number and ask for FIRE. (c) When Fire Brigade replies give call distinctly.
