TRANSITION CROSSWALK TABLE BETWEEN OLD AND NEW BSA RANK REQUIREMENTS Effective January 1, 2017, ALL scouts will be required to utilize ONLY the NEW requirements for rank advancement on any rank not completed by December 31, 2016. BSA has stated that requirements that are worded exactly the same may be transferred from a scout s completed requirements toward a rank on 12/31/2016 to their progress toward the same rank utilizing the new requirements on 1/1/2017. Listed below is a crosswalk table to guide the transfer of completed requirements from e.g. a scout s old handbook to his new handbook (or rank requirement insert). Signoff in the new handbook, or insert, can be accomplished utilizing the following: KEY = Means wordings are exactly the same, and signoff transfer may occur. Almost to means signoff can NOT occur until the completion of the items listed under With addition of. NEW means requirement is newly required & must be completed. STAR RANK REQUIREMENTS : 1 = #1 2 Almost to #2 Share Duty to God & how lived Scout Oath & Law in life 3 = #3 4 = #4 5 Almost to #5 6 NEW 7 = #6 8 = #7 Service as Leave no Trace trainer must instead be as outdoor ethics guide. This is a Board of Review showing completion of Star Rank If this is signed off by 12/31/16, crosswalk for Star is not relevant for this scout. LIFE RANK REQUIREMENTS : 1 = #1 2 Almost to #2 Share Duty to God & how lived Scout Oath & Law in life 3 = #3 4 Almost to #4 3 of 6 hours MUST be conservation related 5 = #5 6 Almost to #6 Excludes outdoor skills and cooking/camping as teaching options. 7 = #7 8 = #8 This is a Board of Review showing completion of Life Rank If this is signed off by 12/31/16, crosswalk for Life is not relevant for this scout. EAGLE RANK REQUIREMENTS 1 = #1 2 Almost to #2 Share Duty to God 3 = #3 4 = #4 5 = #5 although some of the skills are more demanding, per the crosswalk 6 = #6 7 = #7 This is a Board of Review showing completion of Eagle Rank If this is signed off by 12/31/16, crosswalk for Eagle is not relevant for this scout.
