FOND DU LAC BOARD OF EDUCATION 72 West Ninth Street Fond du Lac, Wisconsin July 19, 2016 CONVENE Call to Order, Roll Call, Establish Quorum, Moment of Reflection/ Pledge of Allegiance The regular meeting of the Board of Education was called to order by President Jurgella at 5:00 p.m. Roll Call was as follows: Members present: Breister, Hayes, Jones, Strand, Uselmann, Jurgella. Administrative staff members present: Sebert, Brockert, Lewis, Sheridan, Simon, Williams, Michalkiewicz. Prior to the Pledge of Allegiance, the Board observed a Moment of Reflection. The Pledge was led by Board member Linda Uselmann. ANNOUNCEMENTS/ COMMUNICATIONS AUDIENCE TO VISITORS AND DELEGATIONS APPROVAL OF CONSENT RESOLUTION AGENDA President Jurgella announced that following adjournment of the regular meeting, the Board will convene in a workshop to discuss a new Fond du Lac High School World Language course proposal, Spanish for Heritage and Native Speakers, and accompanying textbook. None. MOTION BY Uselmann, seconded Jurgella to approve the consent agenda as follows: A. Approval of Minutes: 1. June 13, 2016 Board of Education Regular Meeting, Workshop, and Executive Session as presented. 2. June 27, 2016 Board of Education Regular Meeting and Workshop as presented. B. Business Services Approvals: 1. June Financial Statement Accepted and its publication authorized. 2. Current Expenses To approve bills of the Board of Education in the amount of $20,614,002.78 and to have warrants drawn for their payment.

Resignations Lori Schmitz, reading specialist at Chegwin Elementary School, effective June 27, 2016; and Ben Stumpf, physical education teacher at Fond du Lac High School, effective July 1, 2016. 2. Employment Recommendations - Effective the 2016-17 teacher contract year: Patty Bresser, 1.0 FTE physical therapist in Pupil Services, at Level 13; Joshua Gulbronson, 1.0 FTE cross-categorical teacher at Woodworth Middle School, at Level 1; and Heather Rapp, 1.0 FTE business education teacher at Sabish Middle School, at Level 2. 3. Letter of Temporary Substitute Employment - Effective the 2016-17 teacher contract year: Mary Julka, 1.0 FTE music teacher at elementary schools, at Level 6. INDIVIDUALLY CONSIDERED RESOLUTIONS Business Services Consider Approval of Total Base Wage Increase with the Fond du Lac Education Association (FEA) for 2015-16 and 2016-17 Negotiations with the Fond du Lac Education Association have been completed and resulted in a 1% base wage increase for the 2015-16 school year and a.12% increase for 2016-17. The.12% increase is the allowable amount for 2016-17 as defined by the Consumer Price Index (CPI). MOTION BY Hayes, seconded Uselmann the Board of Education approve a 1% salary increase for the Fond du Lac Education Association for 2015-16 and a.12% increase for 2016-17. Curriculum and Instruction Consider Approval of the Annual Declaration and Parent Notice of the District s Student Academic Standards for the 2016-17 School Year Under section 120.12(13) of the state statutes, each school district must annually notify parents and guardians of the academic standards that the school board has adopted pursuant to section 118.30(1g)(a)1 and that will be in effect for the current school year. According to the statute, the annual parent notice of academic standards must be issued prior to the beginning of the year s school term. The statute also states that the district may provide the notice electronically, including by posting the notice or a link to the specific academic standards on the school district s website.
Board of Education 7/19/16 Page 3 MOTION BY Uselmann, seconded Jurgella the Board of Education approve the proposed Notice of Student Academic Standards in the Fond du Lac School District in Effect for the 2016-17 School Year as presented pursuant to section 120.12(13)(b) and section 118.30(1g)(a) of the state statutes; AND I move that the Board direct the administration to provide parents and guardians of District students with notice of the Board-adopted student academic standards that are in effect for the 2016-17 school year in a manner that is consistent with the requirements of section 120.12(13) of the state statutes. Human Resources Consider Resignation of Middle School Assistant Principal Board Members Consider Approval of 2016-17 Student School Schedules BOARD/ADMINISTRATOR REPORTS Athletic Department Spring Sports Wrap-up Andrew Jacques has been with the District for three years. He began as a math teacher at Woodworth and served the past two years as the Assistant Principal at Theisen. He has accepted an administrative position in his hometown of Gladstone, Michigan. MOTION BY Hayes, seconded Breister to accept the resignation of Andrew Jacques, Assistant Principal at Theisen Middle School, effective at the end of the day, June 23, 2016, and that the Board express its appreciation for his contributions and service to the District these past three years. MOTION CARRIED, ayes six, absent and not voting one (Nett). Each year the Board formally approves the Student School Schedules. All of the schools meet the state requirement for hours and minutes of instruction. MOTION BY Jurgella, seconded Uselmann to approve the 2016-17 Student School Schedules as presented. MOTION CARRIED, ayes six, absent and not voting one (Nett). Athletic Director David Michalkiewicz provided the Board with an overview of a successful spring sports season at Fond du Lac High School.
Board of Education 7/19/16 Page 4 Superintendent Absence of Second Regular Board Meeting Meeting in July Board Members Student/Staff Activities ADDITIONAL APPROPRIATE MATTERS AUDIENCE TO VISITORS AND DELEGATIONS Dr. Sebert stated that the Board will not have a second regular meeting in July as per tradition. The next regularly scheduled Board meeting will take place on Monday, August 8, 2016. Mrs. Hayes reported that she and Mrs. Uselmann attended the WASB Summer Leadership Institute in Green Bay on July 16, 2016. None. Bill Morgan, 47 Sammy Jo Circle, on behalf of the Fond du Lac Education Association, thanked the Board for the consensus process used in negotiating the base wage salary increase for 2015-16 and 2016-17.
