THE DEPUTY COMMANDANT FOR COMBAT DEVELOPMENT AND INTEGRATION (CDI) CONDUCTED THE SEABASING OPERATIONAL ADVISORY GROUP 2017 (SOAG 17), 8-11 AUGUST 2017, AT MCB QUANTICO, VA. THE FOUR AND A HALF DAY EVENT INCLUDED MORE THAN 110 PARTICIPANTS FROM MILITARY, GOVERNMENT CIVILIAN, DOD CONTRACTORS, AND INDUSTRY REPS. PARTICIPANTS COMPRISED A WIDE RANGE OF INTERESTS INCLUDING OPERATIONAL PLANNERS, FRONT LINE INTEGRATORS, CAPABILITY DEVELOPERS, RESOURCE SPONSORS, ACQUISITION MANAGERS, AND INDUSTRY REPRESENTATIVES. 2. PURPOSE. THE SOAG IS A FORUM FOR THE OPERATING FORCES TO COMMUNICATE THEIR REQUIREMENTS TO SERVICE-LEVEL CAPABILITY DEVELOPERS. SPECIFICALLY, IT IS CONDUCTED TO (1) PROVIDE THE MARITIME EXPEDITIONARY WARFARE COMMUNITY OF INTEREST INFORMATION ON KEY CONCEPTS, PROGRAMS, AND THE INTEGRATION OF CURRENT AND EMERGING MARITIME EXPEDITIONARY WARFARE CAPABILITIES, AND (2) IDENTIFY MARITIME EXPEDITIONARY WARFARE CAPABILITIES NECESSARY TO ENHANCE THE SEABASED MAGTF'S ABILITY TO EXECUTE TACTICS, TECHNIQUES, AND PROCEDURES ENVISIONED IN THE MARINE CORPS OPERATING CONCEPT AND EMERGING SUPPORTING CONCEPTS. 3. SUMMARY. SOAG 17 OFFERED PLENARY SESSIONS TO PRESENT LEVELING INFORMATION ON THE OPERATING ENVIRONMENT, THE CURRENT OPERATIONS, AND FUTURE CONCEPTS, PARTICULARLY LITTORAL OPERATIONS IN A CONTESTED ENVIRONMENT (LOCE). ADDITIONALLY, PLENARY BRIEFS WERE PROVIDED ON REQUIREMENTS AND ASSESSMENTS, AFLOAT COMMAND AND CONTROL, EXPEDITIONARY SHIP CAPABILITIES, SURFACE CONNECTORS AND DOCTRINE. SOAG 17 CONDUCTED WORKING GROUPS TO REVIEW CAPABILITY DEVELOPMENT INITIATIVES AND IDENTIFY CAPABILITY OBJECTIVES AND GAPS FOR FURTHER ANALYSIS AND SOLUTION DEVELOPMENT. WORKING GROUP TOPICS WERE: MARITIME PREPOSITIONING SHIPS, LANDING CRAFT AND SURFACE CONNECTORS, SEABASING-RELATED DOCTRINE, JOINT SEABASING, MAGTF-SHIP INTEGRATION, AND AFLOAT COMMAND AND CONTROL WITH ALL WORKING GROUPS FOCUSING ON SEABASING AND MARITIME EXPEDITIONARY ENABLING CAPABILITIES. 4. MARITIME EXPEDITIONARY CAPABILITY OBJECTIVE LINES OF EFFORT AND FOCUS AREAS OF INTEREST: 4.A.
