Erasmus Incoming Guidelines
Why School of Political Science? We have the enormous pleasure to introduce you the School of Political Science Cesare Alfieri, one of the Schools of the University of, located in Novoli campus. The School of Political Science offers you many opportunities not only for its full range of learning areas (political science, international relations, social studies, etc.), but also because of its international environment, giving the possibility to know people from all over the world and taking part to conferences and lectures lead by prominent Italian and foreign professors.

Once you have been nominated by your university (sending an email to our office with your data) you will receive an email 1. Before arriving in with all the necessary documentations to fill in. You have to fill basically two set of forms required by our university: Enrollment form and Learning agreement and send them in original by post, to the following address: International Relations Office School of Political Sciences University of Via delle Pandette, 32 50127 - - Italy
Keep in mind, before you are sending us the forms, they have 1. Before arriving in to be complete, and signed by your Erasmus coordinator and sealed with your university stamp (both the forms), otherwise we can not complete the registration process. The respective deadlines are: 30 th of June for the fall semester and 30 th of November for the spring semester.
Once you arrive in, you have to come first at our office (Novoli building D1, 3 floor) and collect the two 2. After the arrival in original forms you send to us. Usually also your university required a proper documentation and you can leave it to us for the signiture; in most of the cases, you need us to sign also the cerification of arrival, which your university has given to you.
2. After the arrival in The next step is to go to Building D15 (Novoli Sportello Erasmus, Piazza Ugo di Toscana 5, 50127 Firenze, e-mail: erasmusdesk-presnovoli@unifi.it) to complete your enrollment. There you will receive a registration number called matricola and a password with whom you can have access to most of the online courses materials and consequently to the exams. They will give you also a student card, in Italian called Libretto, where your marks will be certified by the professors and which you have to give back at the end of your Erasmus period in.

3. Most asked questions and doubts regarding the Erasmus mobility in Q. When does the semester start and end? A. You can check our calendar on the website, looking for calendario didattico and check the exact dates; however, usually the fall semester starts the second week of September and the spring semester the last week of February or the first of March.
3. Most asked questions and doubts regarding the erasmus mobility in Q. Where can I make a change of learning agreements, extensions of the Erasmus periods, etc? A. In our office at building D1, 3 floor; we advice you to make the change during the first month, after you have checked most of the courses and decided which one you would like to take, because it is a long procedure and it takes time. For organizational reason, we let you do only one change per semester, unless you have particular needs, for further changes.
3. Most asked questions and doubts regarding the erasmus mobility in Q. Am I only able to take courses from the School of Political Science or I can choose also from other Schools/Faculties? A. You may take courses from all the Schools and follow all the courses you wish, as far as they are from the academic year you are coming, not from the precedent ones. Contact the dedicated faculties for further information about courses that are not from Political Science School.
3. Most asked questions and doubts regarding the erasmus mobility in Q. How and why I have to register for the exams, in order to be recognised? A. The University of, despite the use of Libretto, has an online system for the booking of the exams. It is mandatory to book the exam online and this can be done up to 3 days before the exam date, otherwise even if you take the exam but you did not book it online, it can not be register until the next session. Students get CREDITS only when they pass the exams; credits are NOT given only for attendance or for FAILED exams, but a certificate of attendance or failure can be given by the professors upon request.
3. Most asked questions and doubts regarding the Erasmus mobility in Q. How can I apply for the Italian language course? Is there any italian language level required in order to enroll as Erasmus student? A. For the available italian language courses in the period you are coming, you have to check on the CLA (University Linguistic Centre) website (http://www.cla.unifi.it/) because they are separate from the different schools and they have their proper timetable and calendar. The linguistic level of Italian language in order to be accept as an Erasmus student in our School, is B1. However, if you wish to take courses in Italian language, it is advisable having B2 level.
Q. How can I find apartments or accomodation in? 3. Most asked questions and doubts regarding the erasmus mobility in A. Unfortunately the University of can not provide accomodation for Erasmus incoming students. However, a service offering advices is available and different advertising websites too. 3. Most asked questions and doubts regarding the erasmus mobility in Q. What about students discounts? A. After you take your libretto, you can benefit from different discounts in whole the city of, from bus, transportation ones to cinema, sport and museums ones.
Q. Regarding the other facilities as university wifi, libraries and canteen? 3. Most asked questions and doubts regarding the erasmus mobility in A. There is free wifi all over the campus as well in some areas of the city. The one in the university campus is with credentials, your student number (Matricola and Password) and the one in the city is free. For the libraries there are different all over the city, where you can consult different books and study. For further information check the website: http://www.sba.unifi.it/ Regarding the university canteens, you have to make a specific free card at the UFFICIO MENSA - CANTEEN S OFFICE (Via Miele, 3 tel 0552261356 Residenza Caponnetto) Wednesday and Friday 9.00 am 1.00 pm, Tuesday, Thursday 3:00 pm 5:00pm.
Regarding the timetable of the lectures, you can check them online, once they are publish, which is usually a month before the lectures starts. You have to search or unifi sc pol orario or looking at the subject you are interested in. Before you leave Italy, at the end of your Erasmus period, you 4. Before leaving have to give back your Libretto, to Building D15. This is mandatory, otherwise we can not conclude your Erasmus period here. Only after, that step you can come to our office in Building D1, for the last signiture and the departure certification, which is usually required by your university.
