Your health is important, make sure you have had or have scheduled your mammogram for 2017 In this issues, note the October activities for KPWW month and State Interim Board Meeting. We need as many members to attend all activities as possible and will need everyone to help with hosting Interim Board this month. We will discuss plans at the meeting on Thursday, October 19th. Also at the October meeting we will announce the Business Promotion Women and Woman of Achievement Awards. Congratulations to Karen Lamb who is one of three partners with Calhoun & Company, PLLC Certified Public Accountants Firm. In this issues, we are dedicating to Ms. Naomi Breashears who has been a member of the Hopkinsville Club for 50 years. Reminder, bring cards to be mailed; bingo donations (quarters, white socks, t-shirts, small bottles of lotion, soap) for the nursing home; and snacks for the hospital and EC Green Cancer center. If you like you can deliver your snacks and just let Peggy know when delivered. If anyone need labels for the snacks, just let me know. Naomi Brashears Ms. Naomi joined Hopkinsville BPW in August 1977. Ms. Naomi wore many hats in BPW from being president in 1986-1987, Woman of the Year in 1983, chairing committees, serving each office, to participating with club activities, selling and purchasing pecans. Ms. Naomi has also been active in the community serving as President of Widowed Persons Services and Knot Just Quilters to volunteering at Jennie Stuart Medical Center as a Pink Lady. She is a member of Edgewood Baptist Church where in earlier years, she taught Sunday School, Sunbeams & Girls Auxiliary and sang in the choir. She loves reading and quilting. When Ms. Naomi was able, she loved traveling and has been in every state at some time in her travels, and has traveled overseas to Europe three times. She has three children, Renee, Cheryl, and Gary; six grandchildren, and nine great grandchildren, two step grandchildren, and three step great grandchildren. Ms. Naomi will celebrate her 89th birthday on November 12th. We love and miss you attending the monthly meeting. Announcements Mayor s Unity Breakfast - 7:30 a.m. on Thursday, October 26th at Christian Co. Senior Center Interim Board will be held Friday, October 27, 2017 at Holiday Inn and Saturday, October 28, 2017 at Virginia Street Baptist Church, Hopkinsville, KY. We will need all members to participate and help with hosting the meeting. Christian Co. Literacy Council, Inc. 26th Community Read Day will be held on Friday, November 3rd. Contact Janice Cayce for more information. Christian Co. Literacy Council has reprint of popular Literally Delicious! Cookbook for $15.00. Available at Books on Main, Planters Bank, and Gracious Me! October 9th - Columbus Day October 12th - Mayor s Office, Proclamation for KPWW Month - 11:00 a.m. (All members are invited to attend. We will take a group picture with the Mayor and County Judge Executive). Information will be sent to Kentucky New Era. October 13th - Deadline for early registration for Interim Board October 19th - Regular Meeting - 5:30 p.m. Pioneers Memorial Complex followed by Board Meeting Bring Snacks for JSMC & EC Green Cancer Center (Club Project) Members come prepared to take a group picture. October 20th - Bingo at Pennyrile Nursing Home - (Members are ask to bring quarters, white diabetic socks, regular white socks, small bottles of lotion, or soap) Members are asked to get quarters to Ann Boseman - Bingo Chair before Monday, October 16th in order to get them in gift packages for the residents. October 22nd - Virginia St. Baptist Church 10:45 a.m. Church with the President (Lunch will be served after morning worship) October 26th - Mayor s Unity Breakfast - 7:30 a.m. Christian Co. Senior Center, for $10.00 ticket call (270) 887-4010 October 26th - Hopkinsville will hosts Interim Board. Members are asked to bring items for the gift bags and help put them together on Thursday, October 26th at Virginia Street Baptist Church. Time will be discussed at the October meeting. October 27th - 28th - KFBPW Interim Board (Members will need to work on Friday and Saturday. Will have sign-up sheet at October meeting.) October 31st - Halloween
