Experts will present and discuss a variety of topics from managing clinical challenges and controversies to discussing topics relevant to practice management. These topics will emphasize practical approaches that are appropriate for an anesthesiologist in both private practice as well as academic practice. Target Audience The educational program will provide pertinent information to anesthesiologists that practice in Ohio. This would include anesthesiologists practicing in tertiary care non-university hospitals, urban, suburban and rural community hospitals, outpatient surgical centers, office-based practices and university teaching hospitals. The content of this program is also applicable to residents and fellows in anesthesiology as well as anesthesiologists assistants. Accreditation Statement This activity has been planned and implemented in accordance with the accreditation requirements and policies of the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) through the joint providership of the American Society of Anesthesiologists and the Ohio Society of Anesthesiologists. The American Society of Anesthesiologists is accredited by the ACCME to provide continuing medical education for physicians. Conference Objectives At the conclusion of this activity, learners will be able to: Recognize the importance of ERAS pathways and their potential to improve patient care and potentially reduce healthcare costs. Understand the importance of using evidence-based medicine in developing ERAS protocols. Recognize that development of ERAS protocols often times require a multispecialty collaborative approach in order to achieve the best possible protocol and patient outcomes. Identify the common types of NORA services being provided currently. Identify key issues in the provision of remote location (NORA) anesthesia that can impact patient safety. Develop a risk mitigation plan that addresses environmental, equipment, personnel and patient workflow issues to ensure patient safety Summarize the history and impacts of RRTs as they have developed over time. Explain the clinical and business rationale for developing a RRT at their hospital. Understand the importance of the development and use of electronic health record DS tools to support RRTs. Summarize what the term value-based care means. Differentiate between fee for service and bundled payment reimbursement models.
