Intensive English language preparatory course Duration: 5 months (12 ECTS credits) Starts: Autumn semester, Spring semester Content: This intensive course in academic English will help you prepare, and support you throughout, your university studies in English. The core components of the course focus on the skills required to function independently and effectively in a university environment and explore in depth the academic language needed to practice the study skills. Group of 5-7 students. Karolina from Poland combines studies and active social life easily The decision about choosing KTU for doing my bachelor studies was definitely the right one. The programme offered by KTU has met my expectations - lectures are conducted in English, I have international classmates and passionate lecturers. Being a full-time student gives me a chance to apply for an Erasmus exchange programme which I am going to do in Italy during my third year. Apart from studies, I have time and possibilities to realise my passions as well as participate in various cultural and social events, for example, live concerts, art exhibitions, film festivals, theatre plays. Visas The European Union citizens do not require any visas to enter Lithuania. Those who need visas must apply for national visa at the nearest Lithuanian embassy ~3-4 weeks prior to the arrival. KTU Department of International Relations provides information and intermediation documents for visa and temporary residence permit (after arrival) procedures. migracija.lt Academic calendar The academic year consists of an autumn and a spring semester. The autumn semester always starts on the 1 st of September, and the beginning of the spring semester may vary a little (usually it starts in the beginning of February). Students are expected to arrive week/few days earlier for a Welcome week. ktu.edu/en/studies Living costs The cost of living is very much depending on individual habits and lifestyle. Students have to pay for their books and other academically related materials (if not provided by the library or teacher), also for accommodation. A Welcome week is organised before each academic semester to provide incoming students with academic and practical information. Various students activities, parties, international dinners, trips and sports events enrich students leisure experience and helps to feel at home. Volunteering mentors assist the newcomers by showing around the city and helping everyday. ktu.esnlithuania.org Accommodation KTU offers dormitory accommodation where a student can have a single or a shared room, may use kitchen, laundry, internet and other facilities. Monthly rent rates: 86.89 per person living in a double room, and 115.85 per person living in a single room. The contest to get the free-of-charge place is organised via joint admission centre, and the applications for undergraduate studies are submitted on www.lamabpo.lt; for Master s studies on apply.ktu.edu until 30 June. University may award scholarships for good academic results throughout studies.
