The Benefit will be held Saturday, November 11th at the Atwood Yacht Club. There will be a wonderful dinner and of course our always competitive but friendly Silent & Live Auctions. The dinner menu this year includes; Braised Beef, Baked Chicken, Mashed Potatoes and gravy, Vegetable Medley, Salad and the Chef will be choosing our amazing dessert choices! Tickets are available pre-sale only for $30 per person and must be purchased by October 27 th from the Extension office. Doors open at 6pm for Silent Auction bidding, dinner at 6:30pm, Live Auction at 8pm. This is the event that provides the Carroll County 4-H Program with the funds needed to offer assistance to those in need for activities like 4-H Camp, Leadership Camp and 4-H Conference. The college scholarships are also a result of this night of fundraising. Honors such as Outstanding Court and Best of 4-H Night are funded through this benefit.
Best of 4-H Night is Thursday, October 26 th at 6:00pm. See page 3 for details. Fall Cookie Dough Sale is happening right now! All orders due by October 27 st. See page 3 for details. Steer Tag-In for the 2018 Fair is Saturday, November 18 th from 9-11am at the Fairgrounds. County Born and Raised form NEEDS to be turned in at this time. (Go to http://carrollcountyfairohio.com/jrfair or stop in at the office for a form) (All Steers must be properly dehorned and castrated prior to Tag-In) New Advisors: If you wish to become an Advisor, the deadline is November 1 st for you to get your application filled out and turned in. See page 6 for details. IMPORTANT NOTE: Camp Counselor and Counselor in Training (CIT) Applications have a new deadline! Applications will be due January 3 rd! CARROLL COUNTY 4-H SPORTSMAN DRAWING Donations Needed for Benefit Auction Calling all members and Clubs: We are in need of donations for the benefit auction. If you or your club is planning on bringing in a basket and/or items for the auction, please call the Extension office and let us know. While baskets are what the auctions are known for and are very successful, please feel free to be creative! Craft items, household décor, spa packages, body/bath care items and gourmet chocolates are always tempting. There are frequent bidding wars over hunting, fishing and sporting gear as well as grilling items. Don t forget about gift cards/certificates from local businesses as well. If you go to PINTEREST and search for Raffle Gift Basket Ideas it will provide you with lots of ideas!! Remember, this is the fundraiser that allows the 4-H Committee to provide assistance to all the events, awards and scholarships for the 4-H Program. Your donations are what make this event so successful and we are always so thankful for the generosity of our members!
3 Carroll County News and Notes You are Cordially Invited to Attend: CARROLL COUNTY Best of 4-H Night 2017 When: Thursday, October 26 th Time: 6:00pm Where: Bell Herron Auditorium, Carrollton Schools There will be a Dessert Buffet after the program. Best of 4-H Night is the annual event that recognizes all the Honor Members and Honor Clubs within our county. Everyone is welcome to attend the Program to cheer on their club members as they receive awards for their hard work and dedication to the 4-H Program! New this year! We will be honoring all of our ADVISORS on this night also! PLEASE make plans to ATTEND! 2017-2018 Project Clinics Dairy Beef Feeder Selection Learn about the selecting a feeder and the steps for making your project successful. When: Wednesday November 29th @ 5:00pm Where: At the Extension Office Age: All Ages and Parents Instructor: Brittany Rohr Registration deadline: November 24th Fall Cookie Dough Sale The Fall Cookie Dough Sale is currently in progress and will finish up on Friday, October 27 st. If you are still in need of forms, they are available at the Extension office. All items are $14 apiece and must be paid for at the time of ordering. Delivery will be Monday, November 16 th and sellers can pick up their orders from 2:30 to 5:00pm at the Extension office. Make plans now on how to deliver your cookie dough to your buyers since the dough has to stay cold. Remember that your sales go toward 4-H camp next June. So You Want to Get a Dog! This informational session will help you make the right choices when you are ready to add a new addition to the family! Learn what supplies are needed and what skills you need to learn for the 4-H Cake Decorating Project. This is the first in a series of classes you can take part in if you decide to take the project this year. When: Friday, November 17 th @ 3:30pm Where: At the Extension Office Age: 3 rd Grade and Up, Parents welcome to attend Instructor: Janet Weaver Registration deadline: November 10th Fundraiser Nights at Ponderosa Make plans now to attend these fundraiser nights coming up at Ponderosa. Monday, October 23 rd 4-9pm Brown Frame Round-Up Monday, October 30 th 4-9pm Facilities Improvement Committee (FIC) If you eat at Ponderosa on these evenings, a portion of the proceeds will go to these organizations. This is also a great way to support local businesses that support us!
4 Carroll County News and Notes Interested in the Teen Leaders 4-H Club? Teen Leaders is a 4-H Club for teens ages 13-18 as of January 1 st. It is a group that focuses on leadership training, team building, community service and event planning. Teen Leaders provide the help and support for the many countywide activities that are held throughout the year. If you are someone who likes to help younger children, prepare for events, work on community service projects or provide support from behind the scenes, this is the club for you! Carroll County Teen Leaders meet on the 1 st Monday of the month at 4:30pm at the Extension office. There are times during the year that the club meets twice a month. ADVISOR CORNER! ADVISOR CORNER! ADVISOR CORNER! If you are an Adult interested in becoming an Advisor now is the time to fill out an application. They are available at the Extension office or you can call in and we will mail you one. Once the application is complete, there will be an interview and then a BCI Background check will need to be completed. NEW Advisor training is scheduled for November 29 th at 10am & November 30 th at 6pm at the Extension office. ALL ADVISOR update will be held on January 10 th at 10am, January 11 th at 5pm or 7pm this year. There will be 3 different 2 hour sessions offered over the course of 2 days. It is MANDATORY that you attend 1 of these sessions due to the Minors Policy 1.50 child abuse and neglect training. Please call the Extension office to register and mark it on your calendar now. Your Club donation to the 4-H Benefit Auction is due by Monday November 6 th. We understand that some baskets/items may need to come in later due to things like fresh baked goods if that is the case with your club, just give us a call and let us so that we can get your donation listed in the program. If you have made any changes to your meeting dates/times/locations, please let the office know. Now is the time we get a lot of inquiries about youth wishing to join 4-H and in order to guide them in the right direction, we need to be sure we have accurate information. The Advisors that need their background checks renewed in 2018 should have received their notification letter. Please be sure to bring your receipt to the office so we can turn it in and get reimbursement for you. Advisor Packets will be ready by Monday, 11/6. NOTE: All enrollments will be done online. Instructions for scheduling training with each club will be included in the packet.
