Events listed are open to all guests attending commencement weekend (unless otherwise noted) and are free, with the exception of housing, the Courtside Grill and the Graduates Farewell Luncheon. LODGING IN UNIVERSITY RESIDENCE HALLS Room Information: n Rooms are available for Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights, May 18, 19 and 20 on a first-come, first-served basis. Only rooms in specific residence halls will be assigned. (Note: single room = 1 single bed; double room = 2 single beds) n One night accommodations: $60 for a single room or $85 for a double room; two night accommodations: $100 for a single room or $150 for a double room; three night accommodations: $135 for a single room or $205 for a double room, payable in advance. A 6% hotel occupancy tax is required on all room accommodations. n Room reservations are nonrefundable. n Linens, summer weight blanket, pillow and towel are provided. There is no towel or linen exchange. n Graduates will remain in their residence hall rooms. n Make reservations by Friday, May 11, online at bucknell.edu/commencement. n Pick up keys for reserved rooms on the second floor of the Elaine Langone Center on Friday, May 18, from noon 11:30 p.m. or Saturday, May 19, from 9 a.m. 7 p.m. Sunday arrivals may pick up keys from 8 a.m. 3 p.m. n Please note any special needs or disabilities on the online form; such requests will be accommodated based upon availability and review of the date the request was received. n Please indicate on the form any guest under the age of 15. Any guest under 18 must be accompanied by an adult 21 years or older. 2
n NO PETS ARE ALLOWED IN RESIDENCE HALLS. n All guests and graduating seniors must depart residence halls by 11 a.m. on Monday, May 21. Should changes to accommodations be necessary, please call the Commencement hotline at 570-577-1192, Monday Friday from 9 a.m. noon and 1 4 p.m. EST, or email commencement@bucknell.edu to determine room availability. We cannot guarantee that rooms will be in the same facility as the initial reservation. Courtside Grill n An opportunity for graduates and their families to meet and dine informally. An early evening grilled buffet dinner will be served in Sojka Pavilion on Saturday, May 19, from 5 8 p.m. n Tickets are $24 per person (refer to menu online at bucknell.edu/commencement). n Make reservations by Friday, May 11, online at bucknell. edu/commencement. Include graduating senior in the reservation. n Purchased tickets are nonrefundable. n Pick up tickets on the second floor of the Elaine Langone Center or at the Courtside Grill. Tickets will not be mailed. Graduates Farewell Luncheon The luncheon provides an opportunity to extend congratulations to the graduates, families and guests prior to departing from campus in Sojka Pavilion, Bostwick Dining Room and the Terrace Room immediately following the Ceremony. n Tickets are $12 per person (refer to menu online at bucknell.edu/commencement). n Make reservations by Friday, May 11, online at bucknell. edu/commencement. Include graduating senior in the reservation. n Purchased tickets are nonrefundable. n Pick up tickets on the second floor of the Elaine Langone Center or at the Graduates Farewell Luncheon. FRIDAY, MAY 18 Noon 4:30 p.m. Elaine Langone Center, second floor Post Graduate Survey and Caps and Gowns Graduation registration processing activities will take place from noon 4:30 p.m. on Friday, May 18, and from noon 4 p.m. on Saturday, May 19. n It s important we learn of your post graduate plans! The CDC has a brief survey that feeds data for you and your classmates into Bucknell s annual post graduate report of activity. n After completing the Post Graduate Survey, graduates will receive honors medallions, senior gift drive items, rain location tickets and their caps and gowns. n Procession directions for the Commencement Ceremony will be provided to graduates when caps and gowns are distributed. n Caps and gowns are provided to graduates at no charge. Caps and gowns do not need to be returned. n Caps and gowns must be picked up by the graduating student only. This cannot be completed by a designee. Noon 4 p.m. Elaine Langone Center, second floor Senior Parents Commencement Participation Pins We are grateful for our parents who chose to honor their graduate with a gift to Bucknell. As a sincere thank you, senior parents who have given a gift of any amount during this fiscal year will receive a pin to wear proudly at Commencement. 3:30 4:30 p.m. Forum, Elaine Langone Center, second floor Phi Beta Kappa Induction Ceremony (by invitation only) The ceremony will induct new members into the oldest honorary society in the United States. A reception will immediately follow in the Terrace Room, Elaine Langone Center, second floor. 4
5 p.m. Berelson Center for Jewish Life, 632 St. George Street, Lewisburg Shabbat Service A Shabbat Service for seniors and graduate students and their families. 9 11 p.m. Sojka Pavilion Wine and Cheese Reception An event to honor seniors and graduate students, along with faculty, administration and staff, at a wine and cheese reception. Families are invited and welcome to attend. Alcohol will be served and a wrist band is required for guests planning to consume alcoholic beverages. Banding for all guests over the age of 21 will be offered on the second floor of the Elaine Langone Center on Friday, May 18, from noon 5 p.m. It will also be offered near the entrance to the Wine and Cheese Reception on Friday evening. SATURDAY, MAY 19 Noon 4 p.m. Post Graduate Survey and Caps and Gowns Continues (See page 4 for details) 10 a.m. 4 p.m. Elaine Langone Center, second floor Senior Parents Commencement Participation Pins (See page 4 for details) 10 a.m. Weis Center for the Performing Arts President s Senior Awards Ceremony University prizes and awards for academic achievement and personal merit will be conferred on members of the Class of 2018 by the President and faculty. n The Provost s Office will notify seniors who are receiving awards in May. n A reception with refreshments will follow the ceremony in the Weis Center Atrium lobby. 5

A detailed schedule of locations will be available in the Elaine Langone Center during Commencement Weekend, or can be viewed online at bucknell.edu/commencement. 1 p.m. Trout Auditorium, Vaughan Literature Building Posse Graduation Ceremony (by invitation only) The ceremony will celebrate student leaders in the POSSE Scholars Program. 4 p.m. Trout Auditorium, Vaughan Literature Building BCCSP Graduation Ceremony (by invitation only) The Bucknell Community College Scholars Program will celebrate the accomplishments of graduating scholars. 4:30 5:30 p.m. Terrace Room, Elaine Langone Center, second floor Chips off the Ol Block Reception (by invitation only) The Chips off the Ol Block Reception is an opportunity to celebrate the Bucknell legacy. Class of 2018 legacy students and their families will gather for an informal mix and mingle reception with President John Bravman. 4:30 p.m. Rooke Chapel Catholic Mass Catholic Mass will be held, followed by a reception in front of Rooke Chapel. 5 8 p.m. Sojka Pavilion Courtside Grill (See page 3 for ticket information) This grilled buffet dinner is an opportunity for seniors and graduate students and their families to meet and dine informally. 6
8 8:50 p.m. Rooke Chapel Inter-Faith Baccalaureate Service Baccalaureate is an inter-faith service of worship for seniors and graduate students and their guests. Seats are available on a first-come, first-served basis. Doors will open at 7:30 p.m. n For a further description of this event, visit bucknell.edu/baccalaureateservice. 9 p.m. Malesardi Quadrangle Candlelighting Ceremony Seniors will line the perimeter of Malesardi Quad to participate in the Candlelighting Ceremony. This event recreates the Candlelighting Ceremony in which the class participated during their first-year orientation. Parents, family and friends are encouraged to attend and will be seated in the center of Malesardi Quad. Parents and guests will have a role in the ceremony, directed by a member of the Bucknell Parents Board. In the event of rain, the ceremony will be held in Gerhard Fieldhouse. 9:30 11:30 p.m. Sojka Pavilion Commencement Celebration Families, friends and members of the faculty and administrative staff are invited to join seniors and graduate students at the Commencement Celebration immediately following the Candlelighting Ceremony, beginning at approximately 9:30 p.m. This event is free and open to all guests. SUNDAY, MAY 20 The Malesardi Quadrangle is closed until 7 a.m. on Sunday, May 20. 10 a.m. Malesardi Quadrangle Commencement Ceremony Tickets are not required for Commencement if held outside on Malesardi Quad. The Ceremony will conclude at approximately 1 p.m. n No rehearsal for seniors and graduate students is scheduled for the Commencement Ceremony; information will be sent to seniors and graduate students from the Registrar s Office before the end of the semester. n General information about the Commencement Ceremony (special seating, first-aid station, etc.) will be available at kiosks on Malesardi Quad prior to and during the Ceremony. n At least one guest must remain to hold seats on Malesardi Quad. Items left unattended will be removed and can be claimed in the Registrar s Office, 102 Marts Hall, following the Ceremony. n Lost-and-found items will be held at the Switchboard in the Elaine Langone Center. n Restrooms are available on all floors of the Bertrand Library, Coleman Hall, Vaughan Literature and the Elaine Langone Center. Portable restroom facilities will be available on the west side of the Library. n Outside Ceremony is held on the lawn. Please dress appropriately for grass and weather. n Beverage stations will be located near the Library on the south end of Malesardi Quad. n Live webcast of the Commencement Ceremony will be available. Accessible Seating: Wheelchairs and deaf /HOH n Seating arrangements are available on a limited basis for those individuals using a wheelchair or who are deaf/hoh. Each guest in this area may be accompanied by 1 additional guest. 8
n Telephone the Commencement hotline at 570-577-1192 before Friday, May 11, to make arrangements for this seating or for details pertaining to local durable medical equipment vendors. The University does not loan or rent wheelchairs. n Guests should be advised that the outdoor Ceremony is held in an unshaded area. n An alternative indoor viewing area will be available in Trout Auditorium in the Vaughan Literature Building. Rain Location n In case of rain, Commencement will be held in Gerhard Fieldhouse. n Seniors and graduate students will receive five (5) tickets each for the indoor Ceremony when they pick up their cap and gown. n Guests who do not have tickets may view Commencement by live webcast in the Weis Center for the Performing Arts and Trout Auditorium in the Vaughan Literature Building. n If the Ceremony is moved to the indoor location, announcements will be made through 570-577-2020 and campus email notification. Signs will be posted at the entrances to Malesardi Quadrangle and the lobby of the Elaine Langone Center. In addition, the University telephone operators will be informed at 570-577-2000. Photography Information n A photography team from Island Photography will be at the Ceremony to take a candid photograph of each graduate at the special moment of recognition as well as a portrait style photo as they exit the platform. n PRIOR TO THE CEREMONY: feel free to visit islandphoto.com and scroll down to select Graduation Day Photos Pre Registration. n Graduates attending Commencement will receive an email with a link to view/order their proofs within 48 hours after the Ceremony. They will also receive an order form with copies of their digital images in 5-7 days following the Ceremony by first class mail. n After the Ceremony, graduates may order online or call 800-869-0908. n Questions may be emailed to custserv@islandphoto.com. 9
n Since photographs will be available, family members and guests are encouraged to remain in their seats, and enjoy the Ceremony. n An area on the west side of Malesardi Quadrangle will be designated for guests to take personal photos of the graduates as they receive their diplomas. 12:45 p.m. Sojka Pavilion, Bostwick Dining Room, Terrace Room Graduates Farewell Luncheon (See page 3 for ticket information) The luncheon provides an opportunity to extend congratulations to the graduates, families and guests prior to departing from campus at the Farewell Luncheon immediately following the Ceremony. 4 p.m. Rooke Chapel Catholic Mass Other Information Graduation Announcements Graduation announcements may be ordered through the Balfour website, balfour.com/bucknell, or by calling 1-877-225-3687. Dining Options The Bison snack bar, ground floor, Elaine Langone Center, will be open for refreshments and light meals on May 18, 19 and 20. Menus for the Courtside Grill and the Farewell Luncheon can be viewed online at bucknell.edu/commencement. Tickets for these meals can be ordered online at bucknell.edu/commencement. Traffic Flow and Sunday Parking Officers will be on hand to direct traffic flow. Drop-off for those with disabilities and the elderly is located in front of Marts Hall on Dent Drive. Shuttles will be running continuously from all campus parking lots from 8 a.m. 3 p.m. No animals, except trained service animals, are permitted in University buildings, Malesardi Quadrangle or Sojka Lawn.
