Meetings, lectures and courses: Our Student Chapter members meet once a week where we discuss future activities, coordinate planned ones, evaluate pass courses, lectures and trips. This year our group of work has 18 student members, and 4 graduate students (including our president and vice president) who meet regularly, creating new spreading spaces for the Economic Geology. Our lectures are planned for every student in the university who is interested in the mineral resources, with the capacity of 50 to 70 students. In May 2017; we organized the lecture Non-metalliferous mining: their economic implications and the environment by the graduated on Geology and Economic Geology Teacher on UNLP, Mario Tessone. 3
Non-metalliferous mining Lecture poster Non-metalliferous mining Lecture picture On the same month, the Student Chapter members visited the YTEC laboratory, a new modern scientific laboratory specialized on development and improvement of new technologies for the energy matrix. The visit included the fluid inclusion and microscopy laboratory, leader by the PhD on geology Ruiz Remigio, relevant for Mining Industry. 4

Geophysics applied to mining exploration Lecture picture As our school year ends in December, and our report of activities consider the activities between October 2016 and September 2017, we are in the middle of the organization of future activities for the upcoming months, in which the students of Universidad Nacional de La Plata have more free time to concur to SEG Student Chapter activities. We have already organized three short courses that will be held in the La Plata University in the next months: Short course Leapfrog Software for the modeling of minerals deposits on October 2017. Short course Drill Hole Logging Techniques on November 2017. Short course: Structural analysis as exploration tool on December 2017. 2. Field Trip: From November 20 November 26 we have our annual field trip. This year we are going to visit 2 active mines and 3 projects, all located in the Puna region, Argentina. They are: - Tincalayu: Paleo-evaporitic borax deposit in the Salar del Hombre Muerto. Active Mine. -Taca-Taca: Porphyry deposit. Close to becoming an active mine. -Diablillos: High Sulfuration deposit. Project. - Lindero: Porphyry deposit. Project. - Olaroz. Evaporitic lithium deposit in the Salar de Olaroz. Active Mine. 3. Fund-raising programs: 6
During this year we had a permanent contact with several mining companies working in Argentina, asking for information and their support; but unfortunately, due to the world economic crisis, we just received economic support from the SEG. This is the reason why we started organizing events in our University to collect some funds, such as selling home-made food or afternoon snacks, making raffles and fests, to be able to keep our activities and trips. 4. Future activities: Regarding future plans, we have new lectures planned with invited professors and students from other universities in the country who would like to participate in improving our knowledge in economic geology and mineral deposits. Besides, we are going to carry out talks of vocational orientation in order to promote the career of geology in schools of La Plata city. 7
