X-HALE 2018 Short Film Competition The X-HALE 2018 Short Film Competition is an exciting opportunity for youth groups to spread the word about the impact of smoking by creating and promoting a youth-led short-film. Every year, the Irish Cancer Society provide funding, resources and training to support youth groups from all over Ireland in making a short film to encourage young people to be smoke free. If you re part of a youth organisation, project, club, services or centre working with young people aged 10-24, we want to hear from you! This year we will have exciting new opportunities for participating young people to develop and showcase their skills, creativity and talents to lead the way towards Ireland's First Tobacco Free Generation. Before completing your application, please refer to the X-HALE 2018 Short Film Competition Information Sheet available for download here The closing date for applications is Wednesday 28th February, you will be contacted by email to confirm receipt of your application and following the closing date in relation to the outcome of your grant application. Please note that groups can still take part and receive training, resources and support without grant assistance. X-HALE Training We recommend that one or more staff members/volunteers that will be coordinating your groups' participation attend a free X-HALE Training session. This session will provide you with the knowledge and materials to address smoking topics within your organisation. * 16. X-HALE Film Making and Sharing Workshop Each year, the Irish Cancer Society invite groups that are taking part in the X-HALE Short Film Competition to attend a free one day X-HALE Film Making and Sharing Workshop over the Midterm/Easter break. The sessions are delivered by the Irish Cancer Society and the Digital Film School with the aim of giving your staff and young people technical skills, confidence and hands on experience to help you make your film. The workshop also covers how you can share and promote your film during your Online and Community Campaign (May 31st- July 5th 2018). The dates and locations for X-HALE 2018 Film Making and Sharing Workshops are listed below. Participating groups will be invited to register up to 2 staff and 2 young people that will bring the skills they learn back to the remainder of your group. For now, please indicate your groups interest in attending and save the date. In addition to this training opportunity, all participating groups will receive a resource pack, which includes information about the film making and sharing process. * 19. Grant We have a limited number of small grants available to assist groups that need financial assistance. Please note that groups can still take part and receive training, support and resources without a grant. * 25.
