Conference Description and Objectives This conference is designed for physicians, advanced practice nurses, physician assistants, nurses, paramedics and radiology technologists involved in the evaluation and management of STEMI patients. A STEMI patient requires coordination and collaboration from a variety of providers to deliver time-sensitive treatment. The STEMI System of Care is a way of thinking that helps every STEMI team member deliver prompt care with evidence-based treatments. Most providers are not aware of the importance of their role from transfer coordination with EMS to the treatment modalities in the cath lab, ICU and OR. This educational opportunity will guide physicians and all members of the team on how to collaboratively care for the spectrum of STEMI patients, from the stable patient to the cardiac arrest patient. Upon completion of this symposium, the participants should be able to: Discover the unique perspective of a STEMI survivor. Describe the rapid care processes needed to diagnose and treat STEMI patients in the ED. Identify resuscitation systems of care and correlation between the multidisciplinary team and STEMI patients. Review recent data and current guidelines regarding anticoagulation and antiplatelet therapy in ST elevation MI. Explain the role of cardiac surgery in mechanical complications for STEMI patients. Examine invasive options for supporting the cardiogenic shock STEMI patient in the catheterization lab. Describe the role of advanced therapies for cardiogenic shock and the STEMI population. Illustrate process improvement plans and multidisciplinary efforts required to create change. Identify common STEMI mimickers and describe the 12-lead interpretation. Discuss the evidence to predict recovery after cardiac arrest and discuss the evidence behind treatment to improve recovery. Recognize STEMI on ECG. Recognize high-risk patients that require emergent intervention. Correlate ECG findings with coronary anatomy.
