Alumni Recent Spotlights Class of 2016 Grace Rooney, Class of 2016 Boettcher Scholar & CCHS Student Body President As student body President, Grace and her fellow Senate officers devised a plan to pursue the class theme of Compassion in Action, CIA for short, during the 2015-2016 school year. The movement sought to promote equinimity amoung the student body. In addition to her efforts in Senate, Grace was widely regarded by the staff and administration to be a leader and strong academic acheiver. She was selected as the Boettcher Scholar and plans to continue her education at either the University of Denver or the University of Colorado. Sirey Zhang, Class of 2016 Scientist and Humanitarian Sirey is an accomplished student and his science project titled, The Effect of Epigenetics on CD8 T Cell Function, qualified him to participate in the INTEL National Science Expo in Arizona this year. In addition to his exceptional scientific interests, Sirey is a passionate philanthropist founding the charitiable organization, Wealth of Health. This organization seeks funds and donations to send medical supplies to remote areas of Kenya. The students work with Project C.U.R.E. to help under-funded medical facilities by providing reconditioned medical equipment and other supplies. Sirey founded the Wealth of Health his freshman year at CCHS and has worked with local schools to involve other children in the project and to fulfill the organization s goals. These students were recognized for extraordinary academic performance, athletic ability, artistic ability, extracurricular involvement, ability to overcome adverse situations or another characteristic that sets them apart from other students. Benson Adams, Class of 2016 Patriot and Eagle Scout Benson Adams is a special student. In addition to his engaging personality and warm approachable demeanor, he has been a leader among the Future Soldiers of America group at CCHS. Benson and his group helped organize the Veteran s Day tribute to our community and worked with students to complete a Thank you note drive for local veterans. Benson was also involved in the Unified Basketball team which he counts among his favorite Creek memories. He adds that his brother Nolan, who is faced with Down s Syndrome, is the hardest worker and brings joy where ever he goes. While completing his senior year at Creek, Benson earned the honor of becoming an Eagle Scout. His Eagle project was building and installing display shelving for the Photography Department at Cherry Creek High School. Next year Benson will be attending the Air Force Academy where he hopes to become a fighter pilot and study Astronautical Engineering. hter pilot and study Astronautical Engineering.
